I really liked how she mentioned her mom again in this video, though being "robot-like" didn't really seem to mesh with the feisty image we got of her from Bree's and Gemma's previous vids.
Maybe the whole sleeping giant reference re Daniel is a hint that it's Daniel, and not her parents, who are going to save the day?

Well, if they're involved in this "religion", and they're not calling the cops, there's probably a reason for that. I am assuming that calling the police would be futile because either: A. The police are no match for this group. or B. The group has control/influence over the police in some way...maybe it's a mix of A and B.

Swift offered the discovery of two moons of mars and their orbits in gulliver's travels. 150 years before they were "discovered". the sizes and orbits were uncannily accurate. maybe daniel is being recognized for his prediction of the ceremony being bad news for bree.

While the last few videos have been predictable or boring, at least for some, I think now there is a whole host of possibilities for the upcoming videos. I like all the theories offered here about the parents disappearing/Bree being kidnapped/Bree and Daniel being kidnapped, etc, but I am wondering how we will be getting our video installments if/when we finally get a real crisis. Who in the middle of something like a family member or friend gone missing will have the time or sense to post a video? Will Gemma fill this gap?

So this video convinces me that the parents are Not in on it.
I know most of you were convinced already, but I still had some misgivings...like they were working with the order of denderah secretly or something.
If the parents were secretly collaborating with the dudes running the ceremony, then they'd probably want Bree at home...for easier kidnapping access. Daniel's may not be much safer, but it is a little bit. she gets the protection of a big strong arab man.
anyway:
boy, bree looks upset.

Good question. I've been wondering that myself.
I'd loose interest very quickly if Gemma started being the main character while a crisis was going on. (In fact, how would she even know? Who would inform her if Daniel and/or Bree got kidnapped?) No offense to the actress, but I'm just not that invested in her character.
If one or both are kidnapped or on the run, it would make it pretty hard to be posting vlogs online. I can't wait to see how The Creators handle it. |

Daniel has known Bree and her parents for awhile. Bree's parents trusted Daniel enough to allow him in her bedroom, with the door closed. Bree also told her dad that Daniel had been following her, to keep an eye on her.
I think underneath it all, Bree's parents are very concerned. They trust Daniel and they believe Daniel will do anything to protect their daughter. Their hands may be tied right now, and they are the ones that talked to the Deacons. We do not know that whole conversation, only what they told Bree. They want Bree away from the house for a reason, or they wouldn't have allowed their daughter to spend the night with a boy.
I don't think her parents are cooperating with their community, and they are simply trying to keep Bree safe.
Maybe her parents will now show up missing- like the family in Gemma's video, only Bree was spared simply because she wasn't home. It will be then up to Bree and Daniel to find out what happened to them, hopefully with Gemma's help.

And as Bree pointed out (possibly in relation to both points A and B), there are a lot of people invested in the continued secrecy of these ceremonies. Even in Gemma's video, They Disappeared, the family runs away instead of going to the cops. Wonder what they were threatened with? The equivalent of ex-communication or physical coercion?
Also, I guess being equipped or deserving to participate in the ceremony doesn't imply purity of intentions or a willingness to participate. I'm wondering with the rest of you why that purity bond business was so important in the beginning.
In sum, how does the whole free will thing mesh with all this coercion business. Are the deacons just paying lip service to this principle?

As I have posted before- Bree and Daniel on the run, with a laptop equipped with camera. Like all good love stories, they work together to solve a mystery, while slowly falling in love.
