Maybe it's something about the dates.
Bree - 1998 (Turtle Olympics in Alaska)
Gemma - 1904 (Olympic event in St. Louis)

After talking about that she holds her breath and makes the gesture of passing out, like she's drowning. Obviously the water element is important in the story plot. They (the creators) are hammering it down on our brain.

Hmm...all the websites I find say 1904...

I have 1904 in wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diving_at_the_1904_Summer_Olympics

and Plunge for distance is not there anymore in 1908

Actually, the story behind those 1904 games is pretty amusing (if completely unrelated): http://home.nycap.rr.com/useless/st_louis_olympics/

Oh noooos! P-monkey is getting dissed!!
Again, she looks and acts pretty gleeful, not the picture of someone who is watching events unfold with bree that mirror those of the "disappeared family".
and "stay put"? i am not feeling the "stay put"is sound advice.
if gemma is on bree's side, could she act a bit more concerned?

So Bree is running for her life, can't trust authorities, her parents' whereabouts and condition are unknown and Gemma is reminiscing about a one-time Olympic event that existed over 100 years ago? Even fiction should be a little more realistic! Evil or Very Mad

Unless, as has been posited before, Gemma's speaking in a sort of code for Bree. If she knows the Order is watching, cloaking any important info might not be a bad idea.

That, and they did, in the original casting call, look for a perky second girl, right? Maybe that has some kind of significance -- I mean, Gemma was a little agitated in the last one, goes off to do research, and comes back all smiley and bouncey? There's something there.

And plunging for distance just freaks me out. A bunch of rigid, dead looking bodies in a pool for 60 seconds...? Eeegh. (Allusion to the way B & D are going to have to keep their heads down and float for a little while, perhaps?)

Wow, before I didn't really think that Gemma was evil, or she wasn't on Bree's side but... I dunno, she just looks mean in this vid... Shocked

Yes, speaking in code makes sense except for the fact that it would only make sense to Bree who has knowledge that we don't have so the code is totally lost on us. We have no direction......I need direction!
