Nah, I think they should do it exactly how they are doing it. Anything related to the main storyline gets posted on the main page. Anything pertaining to 'extra' things not in the storyline, get elsewhere. That keeps everything seperate.

Well, it depends how you think about it.
OpAphid is the Order. If you think about the entire story in this way, the Order (ie, OpAphid) has always been there. The only difference is that the Order is now characterized as a group with a different name and they post videos filled with oft-supplemental clues.
You can see the storyline as OpAphid is slowly being incorporated. The history of the OpAphid ARG finds that it was originally a fan creation but the Creators enjoyed it so much, they contacted the PM of the ARG and now have named OpAphid their official ARG. The Creators are attempting to cater to several demographics - the ARG group and the casual watchers who ignore the OpAphid vids for one reason or another.
You are totally right in saying the Creators mentioned that OpAphid is not necessary viewing. But please remember that watching OpAphid and keeping up to speed on the basic aspects of the ARG will theoretically increase your enjoyment and experience with the LG15 story as a whole while keeping the game players involved.

Meaning, post times etc. are not relevant to the story. ALL plot relevance will be found on our website (who posts, when they post, etc.).
5) In addition to posting all the YouTube videos on the LG15 account, we will be inserting single frames to act as thumbnails for the videos. These will include Bree and the LG15 logo. After observing view numbers over the past few months it is clear to us that having an identifiable thumbnail and posting to the LG15 account is important to bringing in a larger viewership. This is important for the ongoing success of the show.
6) We are working hard to build a much nicer version of the website with character profiles similar to YouTube. Additionally we will be adding functionality that makes it easier for you to upload your own stories that live within the Breeniverse (like lordgreystoke, marbella, itscassie, iris2009, etc.). We think you will really like it.

I'm happy they're putting the Op videos on the site now. I think Op and Tach make the whole story much more interesting. You get to see players from both sides and not just whatever information about the Order that Bree chooses to tell us, or not tell us.
Tach exposed Gemma. Op's got Daniel. I dunno. I think it adds more to the story.
Though I will agree it does suck for the people who haven't been following Tach/Op's videos at all. I can imagine it being confusing. But, the videos are still there to catch up on. |

Yeah. You don't have to solve the puzzles to follow the story. I don't solve any puzzles or help in any drops...and I still keep up with OpAphid. The LGpedia helps a lot, but I think this is a good way to make Op/Tach/Brother all bigger and better characters in the story as a whole.

count me in the "becoming disinterested" camp.
this is my first post on the board, but i've been around for quite a while - watching the videos and reading through the video discussions. i became attracted to the whole LG15 world because it was easy and fun. when i need a 10 minute break from my job this is the perfect distraction.
i'm not going to delete the bookmark yet, but i fear that the "miss me" video will be where LG15 jumps the proverbial shark for me. prior to this point i knew that there were parts of the story that i was missing but it felt like i could follow along pretty well without having to chase down all of the secondary (?) storylines. with the "miss me" video it feels like i've missed quite a bit of what's been going on by not watching the other video lines and i find that very frustrating.
i simply don't have the time/energy/interest to jump all over the place to keep up with the storyline. i know that the creators said that doing so won't be necessary - however, as of right now i beg to differ.
like i said - i'm not ready to walk away yet... but after this last video i can see where it may be coming. |
