* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *

a weird household note

we love hard boiled eggs in my house, yet hate when the shell sticks to the egg and doesn't come off easily.. or when they break when being boiled.

soo.. since the edible incredible egg is a favorite snack, I did some research and tried different methods.. and I think we hit on a winner!

Older eggs work better, first of all... 2 weeks in your fridge makes them perfect, but it's not crucial!

Put the eggs in a large pot, and fill the pot with cold water, JUST covering the eggs. Turn the heat on high and watch, turning off just when it starts to boil.

Now leave them in the water til the water cools.

That's it... 9 out of 10 times, you will have the perfect hard-boiled egg!

Have a great holiday, everyone!

I helped some friends boil and dye eggs this Easter. They didn't have the proper pots and we didn't have any vinegar either! We ended up cooking the eggs in the coffee pot and using green tea with citrus to make the dye stick. I have no idea how it worked, but it did!

Lipton's Green Tea w/ citrus? I've been madly addicted to that stuff for about a month now. Very Happy

My BF's grandma dyed an egg using red onion peels--kinda cool.

I have a tip: to tell when the eggs are done, lift them out of the water with a slotted spoon and if they dry immediately they're done, if they stay wet, put em back in. Its the only way I can ever tell if they are done.

Green Tea FTW! Very Happy

My sister-in-law says that she actually lost a pound or two from just drinking so much green tea...which sounds like the perfect, sit on my ass diet to me. Very Happy But I also read that there isn't a lot of actual tea in Liptons. Who knows. I think it just tastes damn good!

I love pretty much any brand of green tea. Lipton, Arizona, that Fuse stuff. I dunno. It all tastes different, but so good!
Oh yeah! Starbucks has a green tea latte that is AMAZING. Haven't been able to find them anywhere else, though. Sad

I've never seen a 7-11 in my life. Seriously. I hear about them all the time, and I travel a lot, and I've never seen one!

I've never seen a green tea latte before. I wonder if the 7-11 'round here has them. The closest Starbucks is in the casino, and I aint going there just for a drink. I try to avoid that place at all costs. Very Happy
