I wish someone would make an ARG that I could play...like those hidden picture pages in my son's HighLights magazine |
I'm definitely not the one with the clue, but...Z, I'll come out and play with you! I've been reading along here and there...and chewing on my crayons, watching all of these super smart folks with something that leaves awe and amazement w-a-y behind in the dust!!

Wow, Walter's message seems rife with clues. I'm up to my neck in real-life science work right now, but I'll try to take a little while to sit down and puzzle this out tonight or tomorrow. Unless, of course, someone else beats me to it.

I thought that +28 looked a bit suspicious!
The offsets now make sense as alphabetic ones, although only if the last letter to be shifted is A or B. I'm still a bit suspicious that they're non-alphabetic, since they're all multiples of 8. _________________ Facility J: Will the last disgruntled employee to leave please destroy The Cure? |

The offests have looped around the alphabet in the past.
I do agree with you about the multiples of eight. I wonder if we're supposed to extend the decoding sequence. Hmm...
EDIT: The fact that he added eight stones would seem to support this, wouldn't it? |

I find it interesting that the number 8 was also referenced in OpA discussions regarding the most recent puzzle. And of course there's that infinity symbol... _________________ It's STILL all connected... |

I do wonder how closely tied this ARG is to the official storyline. TravelerJ19 showed up with History Lessons XX/XY and Coded Rings about the same time the OpAphid ARG was doing their XX/XY puzzle, and making their decoder rings.
I even go so far as to wonder whether or not WalterDW is telling a Parallax story line. _________________ You made a wise choice, Bree.

As you know, I have been wondering the same thing. If this is not directly related, Traveler J and Walter have done a damn good job making this fit into both the lonelygirl story AND the OpAphid ARG. No easy feat. _________________ It's STILL all connected... |

Good call, TOSG. I had totally written those off as paperweights. Would make sense for them to be more significant than that. _________________ You made a wise choice, Bree.

1(+ 8 ) 3(- 8 ) 5(+ 16) 3(- 16) 6(+ 16) 2(- 16) 7(+ 28 )
Changes to:
1(+ 8 ) 3(- 8 ) 5(+ 16) 3(- 16) 6(+ 16) 2(- 16) 7(+ 24 )
So now, with the last number in the series changing from 28 to 24, all the numbers in parenthesis are multiples of 8.
It's also interesting that the number that Walter changed was an 8 before he changed it to 4.
ShardinsKitten. Can you have FiremanDan confirm the last number in the sequence? I'm wondering if it was Walter's "mistake" not ours. If it is actually written as 28, maybe he slipped up because he has eight on the brain.
Also, he said he knows he has the right edition - it's the "8th" edition.
8 is definitely important here, imo. _________________ You made a wise choice, Bree.

Good call! I was wondering what he meant by that. Now, we have to puzzle out the significance of the number eight...
It's a fairly significant number, chemically speaking, but I'm not sure how it would lend itself to a puzzle like this... |

I would just ask fireDan to get focused pics. Can't be that hard? |

He was borrowing a camera, and it wasn't a very good one. I think that was the best he could do.
Thanks to Walter, though we now know the last number in the sequence is definitely 24. I'm just curious if it was his mistake our ours. Not that it's important. just wondering if it's another clue to emphasize the significance of "8". _________________ You made a wise choice, Bree.

he had checked it a couple times, cuz he thought it was strange (he noticed the 8 thing before, with the number sequence and said he thought walter screwed it up, though he guessed it should have been 24 or 32, I just forgot to mention it ).
That was his camera, it auto focus's he re took those pics a lot, trying to get them into focus.
I can try to see if he could scan both sides of the card at work, but I'm not sure what day he goes back to work, so it could be anywhere from a couple days to a week.
I'm glad we have something to go on finally!
I'll go change my first post, have Dan double check again and make a note if it was Walters mistake or Dan's. |
