I'm sooooooooooo mad about Yousef. I just had to come post on the wikipedia and make sure they tell the truth about how he is being fired and i think it's bullshit. i hope that everybody reads this and decides to keep yousef, he is my favorite part of the show..... I like comic books too and that's why i like daniel at first but also he's so interesting. It's so mean to fire him. i read about his myspace and i could tell how sad he is and i know what that's like. This really shouldn't happen and i just feel so mad and powerless about everything happening......

He was an employee of [[the creators]] rather than a creator himself, in charge of designing some of LG15's online content.

Steinfeld is a San Fransisco area software engineer who also very briefly played the role of [[Bukanator]], who was a fictitious early fan on YouTube who started LonelyGirl's first fan site, [[lonelygirl15.com]] and moderated the [[phorum]].

==Dismissal from the project==

In July 2006, Steinfeld was shut out of the project, but still had access to Bukanator's e-mail accounts. Without informing the creators of Lonelygirl15, he went to Candace Murphy, a reporter with the Oakland Tribune newspaper and whose Web site is ''[http://www.insidebayarea.com/columnists/candacemurphy Inside Bay Area]'', and told her that Lonelygirl15 was a production and encouraged her to hack into the Lonelygirl15 e-mail accounts to learn the identity of [[the creators]].

He later told a different version of the story to [[Virginia Heffernan]] of the ''New York Times''. Steinfeld claimed that he grew tired of running the site and dropped out of the project after fans discovered that the site had been registered before the first Lonelygirl15 video was posted on YouTube.

Some of Steinfeld's photography of the shooting of the early Lonelygirl15 episodes was published in the ''New York Times'', and was briefly available on Steinfeld's personal web site. While both interviews he gave to ''Inside Bay Area'' and the ''New York Times'' violated his Non-Disclosure Agreement, the specific terms of Steinfeld's NDA are unknown, and it is unclear if his release of the photography violated the NDA.

[[Yousef]] was also fired from lonelygirl15 in [[firing of Yousef]]. It is unknown why [[The Creators]] fire so many people and why the people are so unhappy. One reason could be taht they are not profesional.

'''Daniel, a.k.a. Danielbeast''', is [[Bree]]'s best friend and later love interest, and the co-star of the Lonelygirl15 [[List of Lonelygirl15 videos|video series]]. He is played by [[Yousef Abu-Taleb]]. He graduated high school in June 2006 and had a graduation party which Bree was not allowed to attend. Daniel urged Bree to rebel against her strict parents and is concerned about whatever religion and the ceremony she was involved in. Like many of the fans, Daniel has also begun to investigate these mysterious things surrounding Bree and has taken to following her around and recording her actions, even after Bree has asked him not to do so via a video post. On both these occassions [[Lucy]] was taking Bree somewhere; once to a nearby park for what appeared to be a practice session for the upcoming ceremony and then a trip to a medical complex.

He is much more social than Bree, he has friends besides her and goes to parties, which he has coerced Bree into sneaking out to go to. Two of his other friends have been named, [[Paul]] and [[Andrea]].

Several of Daniel's videos have been made in [[Daniel's bedroom]].

Daniel has on one occasion broken into Lucy's apartment. He found on her computer pictures of himself. He became worried and posted a video on the subject. His worries have reflected onto Bree, causing her to question her [[Bree's religion|religion]].

Daniel's videos 50, 52 and 55 have all been shot letterbox style as opposed the the regular 4:3 format. This may just be for dramatic effect but there may be other implications.

Daniel's character will probably be killed or disappear because of the [[Firing of Yousef]]. almost all fans want danielbeast to stay on the show.

'''Cassieiswatching''' is the name of a YouTube user who garnered notoriety for "herself" after posting two videos, featuring locations from the Lonelygirl15 videos [[Swimming!]] and [[In The Park]]. Because these locations in the Los Angeles area were believed to be known only to the LG15 production staff and cast, a great air of mystery still surrounds cassieiswatching as to how its producers came into possession of such knowledge.

The creators of the Lonelygirl15 project have disavowed any connection to cassieiswatching [http://www.lonelygirl15.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=718], but for several weeks, numerous ''cassie'' fans speculated that the disavowment was an aspect of the "This Is Not A Game" tradition of[[Alternate Reality Game]]s, which cassieiswatching is believed to have been.

[[The Creators]] of Lonelygirl15 have yet to address this speculation directly, though moderators at [http://www.lonelygirl15.com/forum the official Lonelygirl15 forum] have stated that the forum [[Admin]] offered assurances that cassieiswatching is not directly related to [[Lonelygirl15]]. Since the movement of cassieiswatching into the MMORPG Second Life and the non-eventful nature of October 12 in [[lonelygirl15]], cassieiswatching's producers seem to have put the project on hiatus, leaving many of its fans now ready to believe that it is an entity independent of [[lonelygirl15]] after all. As yet, the unconfirmed detail that the "cassie" of cassieiswatching was merely an artifact of late-introduced character [[Frank]]'s schizophrenia appears to be the strongest candidate for the series' solution.

It is also possible that the people who created cassieiswatching were fired just like [[Yousef]] and [[Bukanator]]. The Creators have fired both people on bad terms.

==Origin ==

Cassieiswatching posted her first video on September 12, 2006. The creation of cassieiswatching appears to be inspired by two events:

(1) The lonelygirl15 video [[Swimming!]] dated August 29, 2006 contains three scenes in which the characters refer to a girl named Cassie. In the video, Bree asks Daniel about the fate of a girl she knew from high school. Daniel says he doesn't remember this girl. Bree unsuccessfully tries to spark his memory, and then says she used to walk the track with her and that other kids were mean to Cassie. The last scene contained a somber tone that contrasts with the rest of the video, which was lighthearted and intimate.

(2) The unveiling of lonelygirl15 as an interactive multimedia production [http://lonelygirl15.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36] and not a real video blog on September 7, 2006. The YouTube page for the first cassieiswatching video, [[This Is My Story Now]], contains the tags "bree" "tells" "lies" in reference to the news that lonelygirl15 is not real. The video ends with a voice saying "come and get it," commonly interpreted as an invitation to lonelygirl15 viewers to participate in an alternate reality game.

The game has leveraged the use of multimedia and interactive content to generate clues for the participants. Clues have been discovered in two videos, an altered Bible page, a voicemail message and several puzzles using morse code and anagrams.

A New York Times blogger, Virginia Heffernan, who had been extensively covering the story of lonelygirl15, reported on cassieiswatching's first video before it was released in [http://screens.blogs.nytimes.com/2006/09/12/lonely-girl-and-friends-just-wanted-movie-deal/ this entry], describing it as "[a] renegade lonelygirl-spinoff, which has some attenuated ties to the original". Bree is perceived as an imaginative but socially immature girl, and Daniel is a practical and introverted guy. The dialog between them suggests a mystery about Cassie. Daniel, an intelligent and observant individual, should be able to remember a classmate (especially since they live in a small town). Daniel could be lying, which would alter the interpretation of the mystery, but there is no reason to believe he is withholding information from Bree. This has caused two lines of speculation: (1) Cassie disappeared due to foul play, possibly related to a cult (as many victims of cults are loners seeking acceptance from others), or (2) Bree has a split personality and Cassie is the other half.

In the '''My Helper''' video, Bree says the following:

"The only girl I've ever really been friends with was Cassie. She used to come over but the whole religion thing kinda freaked her out. And once I went back to home-school she stopped calling me."

This video may have impacted the cassieiswatching game development. The game intially left open the possibility that Cassie was a victim of a sacrifice related to Bree's occult religion, but this video has all but eliminated that theory as plausible.

The behavior of cassieiswatching could be described as an anonymous informant. She uses direct and indirect methods of conveying information to the participants. The information is oriented to the history of Cassie and the fate of Bree.

Speculation that cassieiswatching is dead originates from the disembodied filming style of the her two videos and the line "But Cassie does not rest in peace" from clue #7.

===Differences between the storylines===

Adaptation of the Cassie character by cassieiswatching is increasingly divergent from the Cassie character referenced in the lonelygirl15 videos:

- cassieiswatching appears to be stalking the Bree character, however neither Bree nor Daniel have been aware of the whereabounts of Cassie for a year or longer.

- cassieiswatching has suggested being a victim of a cult ritual in clue #7, however in the Lonelygirl15 "My Helper" video (posted after clue #7 was discovered) Bree says Cassie was a friend until "the whole religion thing kinda freaked her out".

They have posted statements on the official forum on a couple of occasions as "The Creators". The Creators first spoke on Sept. 7 with [[A Message From The Creators]], several hours before [[Richard Rushfield]] of the Los Angeles Times linked [[lonelygirl15]] to the [[Creative Artists Agency]].

The use of the term "The Creators" seem interesting since it would almost seem to be a biblical reference. It is not clear what message, if any, "The Creators" intended to send by the use of this phrase rather than conventional film production titles but it does seem to play into other religious references in the [[Lonelygirl15]] plot.

On Nov. 8 they fired Yousef. [[Firing of Yousef]]. It is unknown why. Some fans think that [[Anti-Arab Discrimination]] is a reason. But this is probably not true and he was probably fired for other reasons.

'''Bukanator''' was the pseudonym of a [[Lonelygirl15 (production)|Lonelygirl15]] fan who posted comments to her vblogs on [[YouTube]] and ran the [[lonelygirl15.com]] website and [[Phorum]] as a fan site. On his YouTube profile, Bukanator described himself as a San Francisco Web designer with an interest in photography. As a character, Buka was developed and manned briefly by [[Grant Steinfeld]]. The Bukanator character continued to operate the fansite well after Steinfeld's exit from the project sometime in late June or very early July 2006. It is unknown who moderated the fansite as "Bukanator" in his absence.

"A Tribute to Lonelygirl15" went live in early July, on the heels of the [[Grillz feat. Danielbeast, LG15, P. Monkey, and O'n|Grillz]] video, claiming to be a brand-new domain and fansite. This debut was announced and promoted through links and comments on both the lonelygirl15 and the danielbeast YouTube accounts.

By mid-July, however, fans had discovered that the Creators had in fact purchased the lonelygirl15.com domain in May, a full month before [[Bree]] started her vlogs. For the first time, the LG15 fan site quickly found itself at the eye of [[Down The Rabbit Hole: The Hunt For Bree|a storm of suspicion]]. When the domain registration discrepancy was revealed by fans, Bukanator claimed that Daniel had actually registered the website as a joke to tease Bree about how she would become famous if she joined YouTube. The story went that while Daniel had registered lonelygirl15.com, he had no real plans of using it, and when Bukanator e-mailed him asking permission to make a fan site, Daniel handed the already registered name over to be developed.

Despite the initial interest over the site's mysterious evolution, as a website lonelygirl15.com remained almost completely stagnant. Bukanator uploaded the videos, but with virtually no additional promotion of the site or its [[phorum|forum]] (which were silent) almost no one ever went to it. Finally a few core fans began talking at the forums and eventually a community developed, though none of this had anything to do with actions on the site administrator's part -- in fact, Bukanator was widely criticized by the fans at the forum for being a poor moderator. They made many pleas for improvements to the site and especially the forum. The forum was eventually replaced with an improved forum with threaded article and more moderators. But, questions still remained as to how independent the forum was. Frustration eventually led a group of fans to create and move to an alternate fan site, [[The Children of Anchor Cove]], and virtually all forum members joined it, leaving the official forum near silent for a period of time.

Many new fans still came to lonelygirl15.com, and although no longer administered by Bukanator, the forum again became widely used.

* In Guns, Germs and Steel, Jared Diamond calls this phenomenon the "Anna Karenina Principle" instead of the "Tolstoy Principle." Leo Tolstoy was the author of ''Anna Karenina'', but it is unknown why Bree doesn't use Diamond's name. Perhaps the Creators simply got mixed up.
* The way in which the clips of this video are presented makes it appear that the sequence of events in the video are not in proper chronological order. For instance, we see Bree's dad open the door in the very beginning to let Daniel in, but Daniel is not in the room in the next clip. Later, Daniel is in the room but we see no entrance from him.
* How Bree got the lab coat is also a bit of a mystery. When we see Bree's dad enter the room at the beginning of the video, he is holding a lab coat in his hand and did not get it from Bree or from inside the bedroom. However, in the next clip (which seems to have been actually filmed before her dad entered the room), Bree is seen wearing a lab coat.

Hi everyone! Bree, I haven't heard from you for a few days - hope everything's okay. Well, since it's quiet on your end, I thought we could talk about my life here. I guess the biggest culture shock ...flatmates. I mean the nicest people can turn into these nasty demon beasts. Not [[Allen Smithee|Danielbeasts]] mind you - real beasts. They're brilliant on nights out, but the next morning, they're utter nightmares.

And the food situation...that's just rubbish. I came home from Uni and found my biscuit tin empty. There was a trail of crumbs leading to my flatmate's room. And when i confronted her, she shrugged. I guess I need to put a padlock on the cupboard. And then this gunk in the drain that greets me for my morning bath.

To be fair, they probably think I'm the one with the nasty habits or unsavory personality. ...That's not true [laughs].

Even though it's hard sometimes, it has made me appreciate different lifestyles.
