==Background==
Suzie is a native of England and is a 16-year old girl. She is fascinated by the paranormal, and weird in general. She is currently investigating her grandmother's involvement with a secret society only referred to as "The Duncans." According to her second blog, she is "considering studying paranormal activity on a professional level someday..." hence the subject matter of whatweird.

===Grandma's girl===
Suzie’s weird story began on October 17th, 2007, when she finally (also the name of her first blog, [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/3 ''Finally!!!'']) got her own dot com site named whatweird.com. Suzie was a former member of the livejournal community but decided to delete her account and upload all of her “weird” findings onto her new site.

Suzie’s [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/7 next blog] revealed that her grandmother died a year and three months prior to the date (approximately July of 2006). Upon Gran’s (Suzie’s name for her grandmother) death, Suzie was left a mechanical piggybank of a girl skipping rope. Within a few nights of possessing the bank, it started going off by itself in the middle of the night when Suzie slept. Incidents of the mechanical piggybank starting on its own happened several more times in the coming weeks.

When Suzie confronted her parents about the incident of the “haunted” piggybank, they decided to place the piggybank on the first floor of their house. Immediately after doing so, the family dog, Lady would randomly wake up in the middle of the night and bark at the piggybank. Suzie’s parents then decided it would be best to place the piggybank in storage.

On November 3rd, 2007 Suzie convinced her father to take the piggybank out of storage. Strangely, the piggybank was not where they left it and nowhere to be found. While there they decided to bring home a [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/69 box filled with memorabilia] Gran had collected over her life.

Suzie then went through a couple old correspondences that Gran had with various contacts and found out that her grandmother belonged to a group called the [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/81 “Duncans.”] Attached to one of the letters was a picture of a gargoyle. When searching for information on the Duncans, she came across information on Helen Duncan, the last woman to be charged for witchcraft in England, and the topic of several whatweird blogs.

Soon after this, Suzie had a [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/82 near death experience.] While walking down the street she felt a hand grasp her shoulder. As she stopped, a car flew by her, inches away. Suzie attributed that this may have been her grandmother saving her from the beyond, via a form of astral projection talked about on the site.

On November 17th, 2007 Suzie came across a [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/91 photograph of three men dressed as American cowboys.] In the background of this picture is a window, and in the window is an eerie image of a long haired woman.

In the forums on November 25th, Suzie told fellow forum users that upon a second visit to the family storage, with her father, there appeared the “haunted” piggybank [http://www.whatweird.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=17 exactly where her father originally left it.]

The weirdness continued on November 26th, when Suzie found a photograph of her grandmother [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/103 sitting behind a desk] next to an American flag and a flag bearing what appears to be the Presidential Seal. Suzie’s parents revealed that Gran NEVER left England, especially later on in life from which it appears the photograph was taken.

===Little Ditty, 'bout Jack and Suzie===

Jack posted [[Soooo Weird]] mentioning whatweird.com, and in turn Suzie [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/106 posted the video on her blog] and offered for Jack to join the community. This may have been the definitive event that tied whatweird.com’s story with Jack’s story.

Suzie then posted another [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/112 old-fashioned photograph] from Gran’s photos on December 2nd, 2007. This photograph shows a family and their house, and on the topmost window of the house is an eerie image of another woman.

In early December, Suzie and her best friend Sharon decide to use the Ouija board to try and communicate with Gran. They were given two words, “H-A-R-R-O” and “G-R-I-M.” Suzie’s father took the pair to the [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/131 town of Harrow] soon afterwards to investigate. The pair’s trip was in failure, as they seemingly came up with nothing further.

The weird (and somewhat scary) caught up with Suzie on January 4th, 2008. On that evening, Suzie heard three consecutive knocks on her bathroom door. Upon entering her bathroom, the word “PaLadin” was written [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/151 on the window]. As Suzie photographed the word, a voice sounding like her Gran’s whispered “help him.” "Him" has since been proven to be Jack, since Jack has [[The Stalker is Right Outside!|encountered a Paladin.]]

Around this time, a user with the name of Donnchad mac Crínáin (''the name of Duncan I, King of Scotland'') appeared on the whatweird forums. Donnchad offered Suzie some cryptic advice on the Duncans, Suzie’s Gran, and just who the Paladins were and how they related to Jack. Donnchad has also inferred that he once knew Gran and may be/have been a member of the Duncans.

Donnchad explained that the Paladins are basically the polar opposites, and may have been in direct conflict with the Duncans. The goal of the Paladins is to search out people like Jack, and kill them. Since then Jack has encountered a Paladin [[You Were Right|twice.]]

Shortly after, Suzie decided to continue looking into her grandmother’s past involvement with the Duncans. This time around she finally received help from her mother, who was previously unresponsive and unhelpful when it came to issues of acknowledging Gran's past. Suzie’s mother recognized that her Gran was a part of the Duncans, who held their [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/157 meetings in Harrow.] Suzie’s mother even went as far as going with Suzie [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/164 back to their storage unit,] to reminisce about some of Gran’s old things. During that visit, Suzie brought home another box of memorabilia.

===Crazy like a fox!===

The weird and strange picked up again on the night of January 22nd, 2008. On that night, as Suzie was sleeping, she heard faint sounds of [http://www.whatweird.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=17&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=10 scratching and whispering] coming from her bathroom. As she entered, she saw an image of her Gran talking with a man. Suzie has stated that she believes it was Donnchad, due to the deep Scottish brogue that he talked in (his forum posts were written in a Scottish dialect). Donnchad told Suzie to look for a tiny box. In the box are the answers to many of the lingering secrets in Suzie’s life. The box can be found in Grim’s Ditch. Gran left Suzie by asking she carry on the legacy of the Duncans. All that was left of the incident were [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/173 handprints imbedded on the wall of Suzie’s bathroom.]

When Suzie told her parents of this story they immediately made her see a psychiatrist, Dr. Cranmore. Suzie’s parents & Dr. Cranmore believe that the experiences happening in her life are delusions made up from being on a paranormal website much of her day, her friendship with Jack and coping with her grandmother’s death… or they are trying to prevent Suzie from finding out the truth about her grandmother, whatever that may be.

Soon after seeing Dr. Cranmore, Suzie was banned from using the internet and was pulled from her school. Suzie left her best friend Sharon in charge of the forums and blog. Suzie also left Sharon a [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/176 picture of a bird box] on her locker, right before she was pulled from school.

On February 6th, Suzie posted a [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/180 very unusual blog], detailing how she had come to see the error of her ways. Suzie described that, with help from Dr. Cranmore and her parents, she had come to realize that she had been making almost everything that happened to her up. She was merely living out a fantasy and nothing that had happened in the previous months was real. It was all a way to cope with the loss of her granmother. The whatweird community knew not to believe this and cracked a code within the message that relayed a message to Sharon. Sharon was to meet Suzie at Grim's Ditch and bring a Ouija board.

===Is this the End?===

Sharon told whatweird members that she would be posting updates of what happened at Grim's Ditch "under Shirley MacLaine." Whatweird veterans knew this meant to mean that she would be posting underneath a [http://www.whatweird.com/archives/93 particular blog] about the named actress.

At Grim's Ditch, Suzie and Sharon performed a brief seance with the Ouija board. The board spelled out "Dominus illuminatio mea," (''rough Latin for "The Lord is my Light"''). Then the board pointed to the letter "E" followed by "Nesbit" (''E. Nesbit was a famous children's author in the early 1900's''). The board continued to spell "in omne tempus" (''Latin for "in all time"'') and then the number 5. After some time sitting idley, it spelled out "yfel" (''Old English for "evil"'') four times. At this instance the girls heard hooting and hollering and laughter and the sound of running towards them. The two friends immediately took off and returned home.

While Suzie's parents never got wind of what happened that night, Sharon was caught and immediately grounded. When Sharon had tried to get in contact with Suzie on February 13th, she was told my Suzie's mother that Dr. Cranmore said it was in the best interest for Suzie to change schools.

On February 23rd, Sharon revealed that Suzie's parents visited Sharon's parents alerting them of the girls' activities and vivid imaginations. They took every piece of evidence that Sharon had of Grim's Ditch that night and forbade Sharon to come onto the site ever again. It was revealed that Suzie's parents sent her to school in Scotland.

==Background==
===A Sister Missing===
Lauren was first spotted by [[Steve]] and [[Terrence]]. Believing that the girls recently kidnapped may have had some connection to Kate's killer, they made their way to the home of the latest abducted girl. Though they merely wanted to ask some questions regarding the kidnapping, they [[Lauren (video)|met a distraught Lauren]], the sister of the latest kidnapped girl. Threatening them as well as calling them names such as "pervs" and "nonces," she made it clear she had no desire to believe a word they were saying, arguing, ''"What's next? You gonna get me a couple of sweets or take me to see the puppies in your car?"''

While the boys were unsuccessful, Charlie and Julia [[Doorstepping|managed to convince]] Lauren to come to a clinic specialized in Lauren's ailment (''see below''). Unfortunately, Lauren [[Batwoman|became absolutely irate]] with Charlie and Julia the next day, upon spotting the two chatting with Steve and Terrence. Just before she started attacking with a cricket bat, she shouted, ''"What, you think you can act all matey and concerned around me and then let these two paedos come and kidnap me?"''

While the constant badgering ''was'' enough to convince Lauren that she was indeed in danger due to her connection with the drug trial, Lauren chose to believe that both Charlie and Steve are involved with the kidnappings, especially because as she points out, [[Let my sister go|''"I can't help wondering how her and that freak Steve know so much about it."'']] No longer trusting the people that could help her the most, Lauren became more in danger than she had ever been. Later on Lauren had a change of heart and decided to visit Charlie at work and hear what Charlie had to say. After hearing the [[The Weekend Starts Here?|explanations given by Charlie]] about the experiments, the kidnappings and about the Order Lauren left, not believing a word of it, referring to the [[K-Team]] as ''"Freaks"''.

Steve and Terrence decide that the only way to keep her safe is to [[Precious Blood: 11AM|kidnap her]] so that the kidnapper can't get to her. Lauren gets [[Precious Blood: 2PM|locked in a room]] in an abandoned bunker, and is eventually [[Precious Blood: 5PM|joined by Steve]] after Terrence turns on him, [[Precious Blood: 4PM|revealing]] that he is, in fact, the one responsible for Lauren's sister's disappearance. However, Steve manages to overpower Terrence, and he and Lauren manage to escape. Steve [[Precious Blood: 6PM|leaves Lauren with Gavin]] when he and Charlie go back to find Terrence.

Lauren and Gavin [[Precious Blood: 9PM|resurface]] after Charlie gets [[Precious Blood: 8PM|abducted]] by Terrence, and are joined by [[Lee]] and Steve and they all go to Gavin's [[Joan|Aunt]]'s house, where Charlie is being held. Upon [[Precious Blood: 10PM|arriving]], they realized that Terrence was planning on setting the house on fire, but ultimately fails when a [[Kate's Watcher|Watcher]] and [[Michelle Clore's Shadow|Shadow]] show up and try to capture him after he told too many of the Order's secrets. After Gavin kicks Charlie out of the house for becoming intimate with Steve, Lauren and Lee try to comfort her.

Afterwards, Lauren [[Happy Food|moves into an apartment]] with Lee and Charlie, the latter of whom sinks into a depression and locks herself into her room. Lauren uses the next few days to let the revelation that Terrence has murdered her sister [[The Drugs Do Work|sink in]], and [[Bang Out of Order|decides]] to fight the Order with Steve. The two [[Called To Arms|establish contact]] with a [[TAAG|Los Angeles-based Resistance group]] and [[Lord Carruthers (video)|provide them]] with information regarding a [[Lord Carruthers|man]] they are [[Final Appeal|looking for]].

===Fighting the Order===
Once [[Jonas]] arrives in London, Lauren decides to [[Raise The Roof|throw him]] a welcoming party, which ends up a success, though Jonas has a hard time holding his alcohol. Lauren decides to go against Charlie's wishes and [[What Is She Saying?|show Jonas]] the DVD she recovered in the bunker which put a hit out (in Turkish) on Jonas and his friends. Worried, Jonas decides to [[Outta Here|head back to America]]. When their car arrives, Lauren calls Steve after she is unable to locate them and discovers that they have been abducted by an Assassin, from whom they manage to escape.

While Steve is [[Crazy Border Crossing!!|Away in America]], Lee posts a [http://www.bebo.com/BlogView.jsp?MemberId=4999964827&BlogId=6551713537 blog] saying that he and Lauren will be attending Saturday of Radio 1’s Big Weekend. Lauren conveys through her Bebo page that she is upset with TAAG for abandoning Steve, and urges him to return to London. However, Lauren is caught off guard when Steve makes [[The Celestial Network (video)|a video]] where he starts a [[The Celestial Network|new cult]]. She [[Primrose Hill|confronts him]], only to discover that he had only agreed to meet her in order to give a Pro-Celestial Network speech to the camera. Lauren becomes frustrated and accuses him of doing this as a way to avoid Charlie. Lauren invites him to a [[The Dinner Party|dinner party]] so she can try to get him and Charlie together, but her plan fails after Gavin arrives and Charlie is held up at work.

Defeated, Lauren [[Very Important Lee|attends]] Radio 1’s Big Weekend with Lee, who cons people into believing that JTV is still active in order to gain backstage access. The next day, Lauren is [[The Invitation|invited]] to Julia's wedding, and attends her [[The Hen Night|hen night]] later in the week. At the party, she has too many drinks and ends up getting sick by the night's end. Lauren recovers by the next day, where she attends [[Julia & Rupert|Julia's wedding]], only to leave early after Gavin has an outburst. Lauren becomes concerned when Gavin begins believing that Kate is still alive and behind every bad thing that is happening, and is [[Straight To The Top|outraged]] when Gavin takes her to see Michelle Clore, who attempts to lure her under her wing as she had Kate, but ends up getting smacked by Lauren instead.

Not long after the incident, Lauren is [[Much, Much Worse|contacted]] by [[Jeffrey|Jeffrey Griffin]], nephew of The Specialist and founder of [[The FTO]], who offers to help her take down Michelle Clore and Terrence as a way to make up for what his family has put her through. Lauren agrees, and has [[Raymond]] film her to make it look like she is being stalked. When Lee begins [[Bump in the Night|pestering]] Lauren to help him with [[Skittle Pickle|his video]] for the [[Skittle Yourself|Skittles campaign]], Lauren reveals that she is too distracted by [[The FTO|someone]] who has been watching her. She says that she hasn't seen him, but she's felt his stare over the past few days. The emotional distress bring up Lauren's frustration that she still doesn't know what happened to her sister, and that she has to take dozens of pills in Order to stay alive. (She also reveals that the pills were the reason she got so sick at Julia's hen night).

While [[Golf Day Out|out at the park]] with Charlie, Steve, Lee and Sophie, Lauren revealed that she has a boyfriend, but then became angry and wandered off when the others started teasing her about her "imaginary friend". After leaving, she goes to Jeffrey's house, where [[. (video)|she is tied up]] to make it look like Terrence had kidnapped her. She then emailed Michelle Clore and said that Terrence wanted to trade her for more Shadow drugs. At the same time, Jeffrey and Raymond contacted Terrence and, pretending to be working for Michelle Clore, said that they'd seen him kidnap Lauren and were willing to make a trade. Once Michelle and Terrence both [[Answers|arrive]], Terrence beats Michelle's [[Michelle Clore's Shadow|Shadow]] unconscious. As they realize they've been set up, Jeffrey jumps out and shoots them both, killing Michelle and wounding Terrence. Once Lauren sees what has happened, she is overwhelmed and flees. A week later, she calls Charlie and tells her where to meet her. After hearing what happened, Charlie vows to keep her safe from Terrence and Michelle's Shadow, even if it costs her her job.

Though he was successful, the pathogen used to harvest the girls virtually destroyed their immune systems, which means that unless Lauren stays trait positive, her life may end unpleasantly soon.

Bree commented on [[YouTube]] that she had to get an injection, but did not say why. The bandage is viewable in numerous subsequent videos when she wore sleeveless shirts. Bree eventually revealed that she was receiving the injections from her father to prepare her for the [[The Ceremony|Ceremony]] she was going to take part in. She did not, however, know what was in the shots, and when she asked her father for clarification, [[I Listened To Daniel|he said]] that "they're good for [her]." Bree commented that the shots didn't always leave her "feeling the best."

==The Order's Injections==

Daniel found boxes of EPOGEN® in a warehouse that he visited in [[Breaking And Entering]]. He believed the warehouse belonged to a company where Bree's father used to work. Daniel found out about this company after he explored Bree's house and came across the box with a lemniscate symbol imprinted on it. When he found a room in the warehouse filled with these boxes, he opened one to find packets of EPOGEN®

EPOGEN® is an injectable drug for the treatment of anemia. It contains epoetin alfa, a man-made version of erythropoietin, which is a protein produced naturally for the production of red blood cells. It is produced through recombinant DNA technology. EPOGEN® therapy may increase the risk of seizures, thrombotic events, and other serious events. The most commonly reported side effects in clinical trials were hypertension, headache, arthralgias, and nausea.<ref name=EPOGEN>{{wikipedia|Epogen|Wikipedia article on EPOGEN®}}</ref>

EPOGEN® is meant for use in patients with chronic renal failure on dialysis.<ref name=EPOGEN/> Bree does not fit this profile, which indicates that she must be receiving the drug merely to increase her red blood cell count, leading to more blood for these Elders which concludes in "Eternal Life"..

The side effects of EPOGEN® also explain why Bree said that her injections make her feel worse than before. The iron pills would also help her in this regard. The risk of seizures brought on by use of EPOGEN® could explain why Bree's parents [[Back At Bree's|had information]] on Cerebyx on hand (and possibly some in stock).

==The Serum==

While Bree's mom was very pro-Order and wanted her daughter to do the Ceremony, her dad was not, and at some point, began creating a serum with [[Isaac Gilman]] to keep the Order from wanting Bree for the Ceremony.

Fans began to discover the truth behind the serum when Daniel, Jonas, and Sarah [[CAMP PLAY|discovered a box]] left behind by Drew Avery for Bree. The box contained a journal which had detailed notes about a serum that would make Bree [[Trait positive#Trait Negative|trait negative]], and therefore undesirable to the Order.

The box also contained the name of Dr. Isaac Gilman, who once worked at the [[Wyman Foundation]]. Fans also figured out that he visited the [[Sweating Bullets|La Jolla Health and Tennis Club]], where they discovered that he had [[The Mistress|helped Bree's father]] create the serum and as a result was most likely killed by The Order.

==Recreating the Serum==

The [[TAAG]], eager to get their hands on the serum which would save their friend Bree, contacted Isaac's son, [[Spencer Gilman|Spencer]], who was a scientist at [[Neutrogena]]. Though hesitant at first, Spencer became motivated to help Bree's friends.

From his father's files, Spencer and Taylor found a water-logged paper that explained in detail the necessary ingredients to make the serum. With the help of those on the forum, Spencer and Taylor managed to decipher the damaged file.

Of the many ingredients necessary to create the serum, the TAAG needed a sample of a "Trait Positive" girl's blood. No longer in contact with Bree (or any "Trait Positive" girl for that matter) this appeared to be an impossible task.

Yet Spencer Gilman trained the TAAG and, with the help of [[Alex]], working from inside the Order, the TAAG was able to infiltrate the [[Wyman Foundation]] during [[Mission Possible]]. Successful, they were able to create the serum necessary to make Bree Trait Negative, and thus complete the job that both Drew Avery and Dr. Isaac Gilman were murdered for.

Unfortunately, the TAAG was unable to make Bree "Trait Negative." On the day they tried to cure Bree, they were attacked by the Order which resulted in them being too late to stop Bree from performing the Ceremony.

The serum later proved effective at lowering the trait positive levels of both [[Kate]] and [[Emma]], the latter of whom was able to [[Bloodlines: Part 3|kill]] an [[Dr. William Porter|Elder]] with her newly trait negative blood.

==Fan Theories==
===Vitamin B-12===
For a long time the leading theory was that the injections contained vitamin B-12 to stimulate blood production. However, Bree has described that these shots often leave her feeling unwell, which should not be the case if they were merely vitamin B12 supplements. Nevertheless, it was logical to think that the shots may contain vitamin B-12, since Bree's participation in [[The Ceremony|the ceremony]] involved blood being drawn from her.

===Cerebyx® and Zosyn®===

After Daniel posted the video [[Back At Bree's]], fans began to analyze his clip for clues about Bree's Ceremony. Two pamphlets caught viewers' eyes. Fans discovered that they were informative pamphlets for the drugs Cerebyx® and Zosyn®. Cerebyx® is an anticonvulsive medication that has had some experimental testing as a pain medication.<ref>{{wikipedia|Cerebyx|Wikipedia article on Cerebyx®}}</ref> Zosyn® is an antibiotic.<ref>{{wikipedia|Zosyn|Wikipedia article on Zosyn®}}</ref>

At the end of his video, Daniel said he had found something, and while many viewers thought he would reveal these pamphlets, he [[Undisclosed Location|explained]] that what he found was a box with a [[lemniscate]] (''see EPOGEN® above'') imprinted on it. Once he showed that it was the box that held significance to him, the pamphlets became of less importance.

The Verdus Pharmaceuticals location was first seen in [[Evil Drug Company Exposed!]]. In [[Germ Warfare Attack]], Verdus Pharmaceuticals lab was revealed as a large office building.

In [[Bloodlines: Part 4]], Dr. Hart claims that Verdus will come to an end with the death of William Porter. However, this does not seem to be the case, as it was revealed in [[Stock Options]] that they still hold regular Board meetings.

There have also been suggestions by the [[rogue Elder]], [[Claire]], and [[Dr. William Griffin]] that trait positive girls [[Help Us!|have special powers]]. [[Join Me!|According to Claire]], if a trait positive girl learns to harness these powers, she will possess the ability to take down [[the Order]] once and for all. [[Dr. William Griffin]]'s claim was less specific, but he too suggested that "''trait positive girls possess powerful abilities.''" He said that his experiments "''with the trait positive girls showed that they had something more than the longevity that we believe provides the power for the Order.''" He did not have a chance to elaborate beyond this point.

However, the legitimacy of all of these claims were called into doubt in [[My Fatal Mistake]], when a [[Watcher]] told a heartbroken [[Jonas]] that any sort of "powers" that trait positive girls had were a sham. Even so, no other explanation has been given for what could happen instead.

[[Drew Avery|Bree's dad]] told Bree that "''the Order takes these girls who show potential, at birth, and place them in controlled homes. Apparently, there are thousands of them, but once they hit puberty only a fraction of a percentile develop the characteristics needed for the ceremony''" ([[Hiding In The Bathroom]] (January 13th, 2007)). These "characteristics" were later identified as "trait positive." Once the girls have been selected for the Ceremony, they must go on a [[Bree's diet|special diet]] and receive [[Bree's injections|injections]]. To our knowledge, the Ceremony ultimately represents an [[Lonelygirl15 Season Finale 10 of 12 – 5 pm|early end]] to [[Enter The Order|these girls' lives]].

Many people, such as [[Watcher]]s and [[Spreading the Song|various other members]] of the [[Hymn of One]], believe that it is their duty to protect these girls from the time they are born until the time they complete the Ceremony, and as such, the girls are very closely monitored for most of their lives.

[[Dr. Calvin Hart]] was part of a [[Hart Study|study]] that was devoted to trying to recreate the high-ribozyme blood in at least twenty girls. In the video [[Evil Drug Company Exposed!]], [[Dr. Hart]] revealed that his test subjects were genetically altered in their mother's womb. Unfortunately, none of the test subjects Dr. Hart was working with survived past the age of five. Only the control, [[Gina]], surived (she was naturally born trait positive).

Any girl with a normal or low level of ribozymes is considered '''trait negative''', and therefore, undesirable to the Order in terms of [[the Ceremony (ritual)|the Ceremony]]. In an attempt to make Bree trait negative, TAAG, after deciphering [[Isaac Gilman]]'s letter, embarked on a [[Mission Possible|mission]] to retrieve a trait positive blood sample and create a serum using that blood. The exact makings of the serum are not clear; the only clue we have is [[The Serum|"zinc oxide"]]. From what Emma says in [[Decision Time]] and [[I Like Being Me]], we know that this serum can be taken in more than one shot. In contrast, [[Charlie]] confirms in [[Creepy]] that after injecting [[Kate]] only once with the serum, Kate had become trait negative.
Additionally, it has since been discovered that, if the serum makes its way into an elder's blood stream, they will die, as in the case of Bill Porter.

They were first seen in the video [[Home Invasion]], where they broke into [[Minor locations#Jonas's parents' house|Jonas's parents' house]] and demanded that [[Jonas]] give them [[Emma]]. Presumably, these thugs were hired by members of the Order who were trying to keep Emma from the [[rogue Elder]].

Thugs have also been seen in the video [[Is This The End?]], where they worked for [[rogue Elder|LaRezisto]] to keep [[TAAG]] from rescuing Emma. They were also seen in the videos [[Corporate Thugs Are Stalking Us]] and [[They Shot Him!]], now hired by [[Verdus Pharmaceuticals]] (a front for the Order). In that video, they kidnapped [[Dr. Calvin Hart]], who was betraying their secrets to the public and working to save Emma.

Several thugs also appeared in the [[Bloodlines: Part 3|season two finale]], in which they tried to stop the TAAG from rescuing Emma and later trying to stop Dr. Calvin Hart.

The founding of Thelema (in its modern form) is generally credited to the occultist [[Aleister Crowley]]. This stemmed from the logo at the bottom of the [[lonelygirl15]] website (prior to the redesign), which contained a [[unicursal hexagram]] and the Greek writing for Thelema (θέλημα) to the right of LG15*

Some fans became upset as Bree's religion was portrayed in a negative light, and [[Email exchange with the Creators|emailed the Creators]] to find out why they had portrayed Thelema in such a manner. The Creators responded saying that Bree's religion was ''not'' Thelema, but a fictional religion (now known to be the [[Hymn of One]]) created for the purposes of their story. They followed this up with [[Learning Egyptian|a video]] from [[Gemma]] stating that the religion in the series was not Thelema.

He learned that the members had included a human rights lawyer, an economics professor, a rabbi, an ambassador, a publishing heiress, a radio station owner, a regenerative medical specialist, and a former CIA director. He also found an article about each and every one of their deaths or disappearances under mysterious circumstances.

It is important to note that the concept of The Order and its factions has developed, and perhaps morphed, since Lonelygirl15 started. ==Development of The Order Backstory==
[[Bree]]'s early videos mentioned that she had been "religious" her whole life, but did not reveal the name of her religion. She did clarify that her religion was not Christianity.

An organization called "The Order of Denderah" was first mentioned in the video [[Learning To Drive]] (Sept. 20, 2006). In that video, [[Daniel]] and [[Bree]] argued about [[The Ceremony (ritual)|Bree's ritual]] and she exclaimed that her parents were "not Order of Denderah!". A few weeks later in his [[Order Of Denderah]] video (Oct. 6, 2006), Daniel tried to research the Order of Denderah, for he suspected that it was, in fact, Bree's religion. The concern of many fans through this time period of the show was that Bree's religion was some type of evil cult.

Although [[the Creators]] [[Email exchange with the Creators|have claimed]] that they do not want the Order to be associated with any one religion, many references to existing religions can be found throughout the series. These references include:

*Bree attended summer camp in the summers of 2005 and 2006 with peers from her religion in which they put on a play about Pilgrims arriving at Plymouth and the adventures that they had.

*Bree's mention of her mother's strong belief in [[free will]], as well as other references to the importance of free will in choosing to do the Ceremony.

The FTO

The '''FTO''' (acronym for "Fight [[the Order]]") is a group founded by [[Jeffrey]] to bring down the Order and avenge the deaths of his uncle, [[Dr. William Griffin]], and cousin [[Dudley]]. They are based out of Jeffrey's bedroom and have an apparently wide member base, although this is only hinted at in videos.

[[Patricia]] became a member of the FTO after learning the truth behind [[Kate]]'s disappearance and [[trait positive]] background. [[Rupert Van Helden]] had a member of the [[Hymn of One]] infiltrate the organization for him in order to learn more about them. He then [[Who Are The FTO?|stormed]] their headquarters and demanded that they cease their activities and apparent defamation of the Hymn. Jeffrey responded to Rupert's threat, allowing him to believe the FTO would disband.

[[Lauren]] later approached the FTO, looking for a way to bring down the Order. She and Jeffrey hatched a plan to kill [[Michelle Clore]], her [[Shadow]], and [[Terrence]]. In order to make Michelle concerned about Lauren, they posted [[. (video)|a video]] to [[Bebo]] showing her tied up using the same chain and gag used by [[Terrence]] in [[Precious Blood]]. Terrence maintained his innocence, despite evidence to the contrary.

Lauren emailed Michelle Clore, pretending to be Terrence, stating that he would trade Lauren for Shadow drugs. She also emailed Terrence, claiming that Michelle Clore wished to give him more Shadow drugs in exchange for the safe return of Lauren. When the [[Answers|two parties met]] at their pre-determined location, Jeffrey shot at Michelle and Terrence, killing Clore.

Terrence later sought revenge by capturing Jeffrey and his friend [[Raymond]]. Both are presumed dead now, as Terrence recently claimed they were likely [http://lg15today.blogspot.com/2008/06/untimely-demise-of-fto.html at the bottom of the Thames]. Additionally, Patricia was [http://www.bebo.com/BlogView.jsp?MemberId=4337221200&BlogId=7310872435 found dead] on Adak Island of an unknown cause. It is unclear whether the FTO will remain.

The reasons for many aspects of her preparation remain unclear. Her [[Bree's injections|injections]] and [[Iron pills|pills]] in particular had sparked curiosity in many viewers. However, it should be known that the injections were actually used to make Bree trait negative. The iron pills, however, are still a mystery.

In season 2, [[She's Telling The Truth|Emma tells us]] she is preparing by learning a dance that "some people do find weird", as well as "a chant that needs to be recited". Emma, contrary to Bree, talks about being "special" because of her blood, and does know about the blood transfusion procedure - she claims it is called "chelation" and supposed to "build up the health of my blood and strengthen my spirit". She also claims that, after the Ceremony, the Ceremony Girl is taken to a "special place in the mountains, near Sedona" where she "learns all the hidden secrets of the universe".

One should keep in mind, though, that Emma had seen the video of Bree's demise (including the transfusion), and learned about blood traits, ribozymes etc. from Jonas and Daniel. It is thus likely that this is information not usually given to Ceremony Girls, but in fact a unique cover-story to let what she saw and heard look non-threatening and misinterpreted, and to give a reasonable explanation why Bree hasn't been seen since her Ceremony.

A few days later Daniel sensed that something was amiss, and eventually Bree confessed that the Ceremony was not the real one, and that she had been persuaded to lie to him about it. [[The Order]] had taken the opportunity to photograph Daniel spying on them, and Bree was remorseful when she found out.

It was "held" with no special celebration in an underground medical complex owned by the Order, however, in the season 2 episode [[Spreading the Song]], [[Sonia]] asks [[Carl]] "Have you even seen Bree since the Ceremony?" - which ''can'' be understood in a way that implies that there was indeed a religious event held for the occasion, and that the TAAG just missed it.

The rogue Elder entrusted his [[Shadow]], [[Claire]], with the job of extracting Emma from [[The Whartons]] through an elaborate plot using the LaRezisto YouTube account. Claire used the façade of LaRezisto to trick TAAG into believing that she was the only remaining member of the Resistance, which Jonas's parents once belonged to. [[Jonas]] [[Finding Help|believed this]] and [[Watch Your Back|gave Emma to Claire]]. Emma was then seen [[Goodbye For Now|preparing for the Ceremony]].

According to Sonia, the [[Hymn of One]] is [[We All Make Mistakes|aware]] of the Elder who "disobeyed the principals of the Hymn of One." Apparently there is a "waiting list" that the Elders have set up that determines who is next in the Ceremony. The rogue Elder [[My Fatal Mistake|attempted to bypass this method]] and get his hands on a trait positive girl sooner.

In [[What Happened?]], the rogue Elder revealed that his organs were about 90 years old, despite his appearance being that of a man half that age (at most). This implied that he was at least 90 years old, if not that it had been 90 years since his last Ceremony.

His base of operations was [[Pleasant Manor]], where Jonas remembered his step-grandmother [[Is This The End?|used to take him]] when she attended Hymn of One parties.

The rogue Elder's disregard for the principles of the Hymn of One proved to be his undoing as his Shadow, [[Claire]], who respected the principals, shot the rogue Elder in What Happened?

Throughout the series, [[Bree's religion]] has been the focus of much speculation. [[the Creators]] have identified Bree's religion, [[the Order|the Order of Denderah]], as something completely fictional. Over the course of the series, fans have speculated about the influences that real-world cults, secret societies and religions have had on the creation of the Order.

==Cults==
[[Daniel]] has called [[Bree's religion]] a cult. The word cult generally has a negative connotation and often suggests fundamentalism, extremism, the withdrawal of cult members from society and even brainwashing.

In the video [[Learning Egyptian]], [[Gemma]] says that Bree's religion is not a religion at all, but rather a secret society called [[the Order]]. Most people would consider the Order to be a cult, because it is far outside the mainstream and is willing to go so far as to murder dissidents.

While the Order bears most of the trademarks of a cult, it does not appear to be modeled after any particular real-world cult.

The Illuminati generally refers to a shadowy conspiratorial organization which is reputed to secretly control world affairs. The Illuminati are believed by some conspiracy theorists to be an organization attempting to take over the world with a single, fascist government. However, there were historical Illuminati. The Illuminati, also called the Bavarian Illuminati, was a free masonic group started in Germany by Adam Weishaupt. The organization was very secretive and, due to paranoia by outsiders, was accused of many conspiracies due to the fact that no one knew anything about the inner workings of the Order. However, among the intellectual elite there were Illuminati sympathizers who claimed that Weishaupt's organization existed to spread morality to the common man. One such sympathizer was none other than the president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, who said of Weishaupt:

Many fraternal orders, occult or otherwise, actually borrow in some way from Freemasonry since it is the oldest surviving fraternal order in the world. The list of organizations that borrow from Freemasonry include the Ordo Templi Orientis, the Golden Dawn, and the A.: A.:, which were all organizations that [[Aleister Crowley]] had membership in. They also include orders such as the Knights Columbus which was actually put forth as an alternative to Freemasonry by the Catholic Church. So, there is a chance that the Order that Bree's family is involved with somewhat resembles the structure of Freemasonry.

==Knights Templar==
The Knights Templar were an order of knights commissioned to protect pilgrims on their travels in the Holy Land during the Crusades. They were an organization of warrior monks, having taken vows of celibacy, poverty, obedience, and piety. As a part of their commission, they answered to no one but the Pope himself.

The Knights Templar were lated disbanded by the Pope in the 1300s. [[#Freemasonry|Freemasonry]] (which started in England) also claim lineage with the Knights Templar and it is speculated that the [[#Illuminati|Illuminati]], which was a free masonic order, owed its origins to the Knights Templar as well. At the time, the Templars were accused of many crimes, including worship of a god known as [[Baphomet]]. It is now generally believed that the Templars were the victims of unfounded persecution.

As Bree's religion is also a mysterious Order, a connection has been theorized. It was briefly believed by some that the picture on Bree's room was once of a Baphomet, though this later proved not to be the case. [[Gemma]] says in the video [[A Watcher]] that the watchers operate a bit like an Order of Knights. Some believed she may have been referencing the Knights Templar.

After hearing the Project's announcement, [[Jonas]] became concerned and [[Connections|reviewed the facts]]. He noted that the Hymn of One is a cult, which is a cover for [[the Order]] and that the Wyman Foundation is a non-profit research organization, which is another cover for the Order.

Jonas then wondered why such a large drug company would choose to partner with these organizations. He did a little more digging and, on the [http://www.verduspharma.com/press/ Verdus website], he found that Verdus would be hosting a life extension panel. Life extension is one of the key objectives of the Order, noted by their use of [[trait positive]] girls in [[the Ceremony (ritual)|the Ceremony]] to extend the lives of [[Elders]]. As such, Jonas was able to conclude that Verdus Pharmaceuticals is another front for the Order. With all three organizations backing it, Jonas began to speculate that the Lullaby Project was being used for the Order in some way.

Jonas's suspicions were further validated after watching some blogs from [[Jennie]], who was volunteering at the project. Her volunteer work brought her to the home of [[Juanita|Juanita Cerez]], a local mother-to-be. While there, Jennie found that she was not at all welcome, for many members of the community believed that the Lullaby Project was a curse. In fact, three of Juanita's relatives who had participated in the outreach program in the previous few weeks had suffered miscarriages.

At first, Jennie tried to rationalize this information, attempting to convince herself that there are many complications with bringing a baby to full term, and that the Lullaby Project itself was probably not to blame. However, her investigative side soon got the better of her, and she decided to look into the files of Juanita's relatives. The private files she found proved that three of Juanita's relatives had, in fact, suffered miscarriages in the previous two weeks. Shockingly, though, the public report for those weeks only reported one miscarriage, and the mother was not any of Juanita's relatives. The folder of the patient whose miscarriage ''was'' reported was surprisingly blank and only contained a slip of paper from Verdus Pharmaceuticals and an intake slip.

Jennie confronted [[Carl]], a leader at the project, with her proof of the discrepancies in the records, but he waved off her concerns and told her to [[Help Me Save Them!|''"forget about the numbers. Just do your job."'']] This greatly upset Jennie, who grabbed as many files and papers as she could and fled from the project.

==The Project's True Nature==
The project itself, was, of course, not as it seemed. It did not intend to give prenatal care to pregnant women, but to genetically modify their embryos in order to create new test subjects for the [[Hart Study]]. This project received $500 million in funding from [[Dr. William Porter]], an [[Elder]], under the cover of [[Bio-Therapy Report LLC]].

The Lullaby Project appears to have many locations:

However, Daniel remained suspicious of Lucy and the Ceremony, and [[Following The Helper|broke into her]] [[Lucy's apartment|apartment complex]] to learn more about her. While he was there, he discovered pictures of himself and Bree on her computer, as well as a mysterious [[Lucy's apartment#Google Maps locations|Google map]], leaving Daniel to feel creeped and stalked. Bree eventually realized that Lucy was not as she seemed and admitted that the Ceremony she had completed was [[I Lied To Daniel|a fake]]. She was no longer comfortable with the [[I Listened To Daniel|lack of information]] provided to her regarding her duties for the Ceremony, and decided to [[I Talked To My Parents|ask her parents]] to get her out of her Ceremonial obligations.

[[Bree's parents]] agreed to get her out of the Ceremony, and asked [[Deacon|the Deacons]] to release her from her obligation. The talk did not [[Life's Not Fair|go very well]], though. Bree's parents ended up getting scared, and asked Bree to [[Still At Daniel's|spend the night at Daniel's]] while they sorted things out. Bree did just that, but became worried when her parents did not [[Where Are My Parents?|return her calls]]. She decided to sneak back to her house, only to find Lucy and a Deacon leading her parents away.

===The Stalker===
From this point on, Lucy is only seen sporadically, mostly during times when the Order makes an offensive move against Bree or her [[TAAG|friends]]. For example, Lucy was present at [[The Unthinkable Happened|Bree's father's murder]]. She later went down to Mexico to retrieve Jonas's [[Alex|Aunt Alex]] who was still in the Order's control. Weeks later, she traveled to Texas to retrieve [[What the F*@k???|Jules (and unexpectedly Bree)]], after Jules alerted the Order of the TAAG's location. Once Bree surrendered herself to the Order, Lucy [[Lonelygirl15 Season Finale 8 of 12 - 3 pm|continued her work]] for them as Bree participated in the ''true'' Ceremony, helping [[Lonelygirl15 Season Finale 8 of 12 - 3 pm|transfuse her blood]] into an [[Elder]].

After Bree's death, Lucy began keeping an eye on other trait positive girls. She was once spotted in [[Kate Come Home|London]] helping [[Michelle Clore]], another [[Elder]], look for [[Kate]], a trait positive girl on the verge of breakdown. Back in America, Lucy returned to chasing TAAG, this time attempting to [[Shadow of Death|kidnap]] Jonas's [[trait positive]] sister, [[Emma]] in [[Arizona]]. She later spotted Daniel, Jonas, [[Sarah]], and [[Mallory]] at the [[What's Going on?|Lullaby Project Press Conference]], where, upon seeing her, the teens escaped from the building.

Although Lucy had ultimately failed to collect Emma in Arizona, she traveled to Mexico, once again on the heels of Emma. While there, she met up with [[Carl]], and found a way to lure Jonas's sister out of safety. Using Carl as her messenger, she convinced [[Jonas]], [[Jennie]], and Emma to meet [[Dr. Hart]] in a remote part of the Mexican Desert. At this location, Lucy succeeded in kidnapping Emma.

She soon returned to California on the information that Jonas and Daniel would be there, knowing that they intended to take Emma back. She headed to Ghirardelli Square, where she met up with [[Too Dangerous!|several lonelycrackers]], asking if they had seen Daniel and Jonas. The fans had not, but Lucy eventually did catch up with them. Luckily, the two escaped, but not before putting a tracker on Lucy's SUV. They also discovered that Lucy had been in contact with [[Greg Gallows]], who was responsible for leading her to them that day.

Though she managed to stop Jonas and Daniel from taking Emma at [[Dr. William Porter]]'s home, which they found through the tracking device, Lucy's efforts were ultimately foiled when Dr. Hart helped Emma escape from the Ceremony, at the cost of his own life.

===The Assassin===
Since [[Bloodlines: Part 3|saving]] Emma and Gina, the TAAG saw Lucy [[Looking for Gina|following]] them along with William Porter's [[Shadow]], who had been stalking them to avenge his master's death. She is [[Bathroom Talk|next seen]] on [[Catalina Island]], where she [[Shop of Horrors!!!|picks up a package]] for [[Lord Carruthers]] at [[Alcombe Antiques]].

During TAAG's sting operation at [[Edward Salinas]]'s [[Politics Gone Wild!|fundraiser]], Daniel spots Lucy as one of the guests, and she pursues them once they are discovered by the security staff. A few weeks later, when TAAG decides to throw a special [[Prom: It's To Die For - Part 4|prom]] for Gina and Emma, Lucy bashes the party with her new found friend Carl, ultimately killing Gina to help Edward Salinas ascend within the ranks of the Order. Ironically, It is also believed that Lucy killed Salinas in his home after he was revealed to have been taking money from his campaign. While the newscaster reports Salinas's death, Lucy is seen walking out of his house and out of the picture.

Lucy remains at large, presumably following the TAAG at this very moment.

Many argue that the HoO is not truly a religion, but [[It's A Cult|a cult]]. They note the HoO's brainwashing techniques, such as having members recite "[[It's A Cult|The Hymn of One is fun]]" repeatedly, as highly characteristic of cultish behavior.

Most members of the Hymn of One are very naïve, and don't know anything about the Order whatsoever. Many members live in controlled [[commune|communities]], made up entirely of Hymn of One members.

The Hymn of One [[Lying Bastards|allegedly advocates]] [[free will]], but, like most cults, do not truly believe in it. This is evidenced in the way they pursued [[Bree]] and tried to [[Miss Me?|manipulate her]] into doing [[the Ceremony (ritual)|the Ceremony]], even after she had [[I Listened To Daniel|decided against it]].

According to Sonia, members of the Hymn of One apparently believe in the principles of the "Eternal Hand." Though full details of the "Eternal Hand" remain unknown, Sonia [[They Beat Her!!!|further explained]] that it is based in trust and that ''"the primary relationship in the Hymn of One is the group. Specifically the leaders. You're never attached to one individual. Not even if you love them. It's called "Trust in the Divine Symphony."'' Sonia then concluded with ''"One note in the symphony never cared about what the other note is doing. It just accepts its own song.''''

Several Hymn of One members believe in doing service around the world. A fine example of this would be the [[Lullaby Project]], comprised of several volunteers who believe to be helping low-income mothers-to-be during their pregnancies.

Practicing Hymn of One members are often be seen starting their day with a form of social meditation called a [[Missing Girl Found|"Song Circle"]], where they are supposed to listen to their internal, eternal song.

They are also told that it is their duty is to protect [[trait positive]] girls from [[Spreading the Song|the time they are born until the time they complete the Ceremony]], but have no knowledge of what the Ceremony actually is. This was best demonstrated by Steve volunteering to keep an eye on Kate upon discovering that she was Trait Positve. As he [[The Prisoner|revealed]], ''"Someone at the Hymn of One told me to defend you. I was just doing my job. I wanted to help . . . Everybody at the Hymn Of One cares about Kate. She's trait positive. She needs to be protected!"''

In fact, within the Hymn of One there exists an elite team of twenty men infamously known as [[Watchers]], whose sole mission is to protect Trait Positive girls. They too have no knowledge of the Ceremony or even the Order. [[Proceed with Caution|According]] to [[Alex]], ''"Watchers will absolutely use violence if violence is used first, and if that's the case, watch out! These guys make Marine Corps look like Quakers."'' This fits with what Chris told the [[TAAG]] in the video [[They Belong With Us]]: ''"We're not shy about using force...when necessary."''

Finally, while members of the Hymn of One do not celebrate conventional holidays, they do have a day to celebrate their eternal song; members of the Hymn of One celebrate the [[War is Over|"Day of Eternal Song"]], which takes place every year on April 7th.

===Signifigance of Women===
Trait Positive girls aside, the Hymn of One does strongly value their [[Feminist themes|female members]]. Bree [[Losing My Religion|once said]] that her [[Elizabeth Avery|mother]] was introduced to The Hymn of One by a university professor when she was studying at [[Scotland|Edinburgh]]. She mentions that her mother had been "looking for answers", and believed that she found them with the Hymn of One. Bree's father, however, noted some changes in his wife after she joined. He said that while she used to be introverted, after joining she was the "first to pick an argument." ([[Losing My Religion]] (Apr. 3, 2007)).

From this, we can deduce that not only are [[Feminist themes|female members]] respected, but that they encourage them to stand up for themselves, and more importantly, their religious beliefs.

===Limits on Lifestyle===
Though most members claim that nothing's better than finding one's eternal song, there are certain limits and restrictions that the religion imposes on its members. For example, the Hymn of One strongly discourages its members from practicing acts of indulgence or consuming products that are known to be harmful to one's health:

*Consuming alcoholic beverages, for example, is not tolerated by the Hymn of One, as noted by [[Carl]] turning down a night on the town with [[Chris]] by claiming that [[A Woman's Touch|''"It's against my principles."'']]

*Steve once mentioned that since joinging the Hymn of One, he stopped smoking, [[Out of the Frying Pan...|claiming]] that "Every time I felt a craving, I'd just, I'd listen to my Eternal Song and I'd be all right. I didn't need one."

*Finally, [[Kicked Out - NBR Investigates|according]] to Nikki Bower, chocolate is another "no-no". However, it seems that even the pious Carl has been known to smuggle in the sweet now and again.

It's also interesting to note that abstinence is expected of members higher up within the Hymn of One. This was notably preached by Hymn of One author, Rupert Van Helden (though, like Carl, [[Precious Blood: 2PM|it's been revealed]] his actions don't necessarily reflect what he preaches).

While lower-level members are allowed to date, they do not celebrate marriages. Instead, when two people wish to spend their lives together, they perform an '''Eternal Unity Bond'''. Despite the diffrence in names, Rupert revealed that it's still, [[Mrs Van Helden?|"''a lot like a marriage, yes.''"]]

They promote the idea that one can find eternal happiness by [[Sing Until The End|singing one's eternal song]].

The Hymn of One's logo is an upside-down musical symbol known as a {{wikipedia|Fermata|fermata}}. A fermata is used either over or, in the case of the upside-down fermata, under a note. It signifies that a note will be held out for longer than its true value. The actual value of a note with which a fermata is used is up to the conductor of the performer. However, the idea of using the symbol is that the note is held indefinitely. This alludes to the Hymn of One's mantra of "finding your eternal song".

The '''Hart Study''' was named after [[Dr. Calvin Hart]], who worked at Verdus as a life extension researcher.

Funded by [[Bio-Therapy Report LLC]], Dr. Hart's study involved recreating the high-ribozyme-filled blood found in trait positive girls like [[Bree]], [[Gina]], [[Kate]], and [[Emma]]. The twenty trait positive girls in question were genetically altered in the wombs of their mothers. If the study was successful and the girls reached proper maturation, Dr. Hart's superiors hoped that they could harvest their own Trait Positive girls, ensuring their supply would never run out.

Using Gina as a control, Dr. Hart worked with the twenty girls, trying to maintain not only the longevity of their life but their trait positive blood as well. Unfortunately, the tests proved to be fatal for each of the twenty girls, a serious blow to the Hart Study.

Nevertheless, Bio-Therapy Report [[Lost & Found|invested]] half a billion dollars into both the study and to the [[Lullaby Project]], which would provide Dr. Hart an abundant supply of genetically-modified embryos. Unfortunately, the Lullaby Project would be unsuccessful modifying the embryos, with several mothers [[Help Me Save Them!|experiencing miscarriages]], so the Hart Study was ultimately discontinued.

The Hart Study became revealed to the [[TAAG]] when [[Jonas]] starting receiving anonymous videos showing Dr. Hart working with Gina, who was incorrectly called as "Patient #11" (in reality, she wasn't a patient at all, merely the control; what Dr. Hart was trying to recreate).

The videos, dated to have taken place in early 2001, were eventually [[Ambushed in a Tent|revealed]] to come from Dr. Hart himself. Dr. Hart however, had claimed that Gina had died at the age of fifteen. In reality, Gina was taken captive by [[Dr. William Porter|Verdus's sponsor]], who planned to use her in an upcoming Ceremony unless Dr. Hart could [[Her Body, Her Blood|provide]] another trait positive girl.

The first indication that Free Will might become an issue in the series was a picture of [[Aleister Crowley]], a champion of free will, hanging on a wall in [[Bree's room]], as part of some sort of shrine.

Crowley's beliefs – the ''"Rights of Man"'' – were outlined most popularly in his text "Liber Oz"<ref>[http://www.hermetic.com/crowley/libers/lib77.html Hermetic.com article on Liber Oz]</ref>; in it, he makes clear he does not believe in ''absolute'' freedom, but rather, that the freedom of one ends in the freedom of another: One must not use his own freedom to restrict someone else's. Most importantly, he also advocated that for such cases, laws and penalties should be in place. He called this the ''Law of Thelema''.{{clr}}

==The Law of Thelema==

The free will espoused by [[Thelema]] (θέλημα) is a free will to act according to your True Will. As it states in the Book of the Law, ''"Thou hast no right but to do thy will."''. An interesting argument following this is that this principle actually ''forbids'' many things you might want to do - committing a crime, for example, or simple health-damaging acts like smoking. Because, as the reasoning goes, these acts, be it by leading to persecution or damage to one's health, restrict the individual's ability to act in fullness, and, as such, violate his own free will by disallowing him to do whatever he wants. (In other words: One is not allowed to restrict any person's freedom; since heavy smoking would restrict a person's ability to breathe freely, for example, a smoker is essentially restricting his own freedom, and, as such, violating the Law of Thelema by giving in to his desire to smoke.)

This interpretation is interesting as it might be the reasoning behind [[Bree's diet]] - making sure she's truly following and embracing her True Will, not violating it by health-damaging foods.

===Thelematic world view===
The Free Will as envisioned in Thelema is not anarchy, as it is not without law – each individual is bound to his own True Will and to developing it by experience. It is acknowledged by the Book that this will lead to conflict (''"As brothers fight ye!"''), however, according to the teachings, wherever the wills of two clash, ''one'' must be wrong.

In this context, another quote from the Book is interesting – ''"If he be a King, thou canst not hurt him."''. A "King", according to Thelema, is someone who is not only willing to act, but thinking out his actions and accepting responsibility for them as well. One who is mastered by consequences is not a King, but a slave. The Book states ''"Therefore the kings of the earth shall be Kings for ever: the slaves shall serve."'', and makes clear: ''"this is the law of the strong: this is our law and the joy of the world."''.

==Free Will in Lonelygirl15==
[[Bree's parents]] first met when her [[Elizabeth Avery|mother]] stepped into a discussion that her [[Drew Avery|Bree's father]] was having with a friend about the play [[Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead]].<ref name=parents>Bree's video [[How My Parents Met]]</ref> [[Elizabeth Avery|Bree's mother]] believed so passionately in free will, that she felt compelled to walk over to the man who was saying that determinism was the theme of the play ([[Drew Avery|Bree's father]]) and tell him that he was completely wrong.

On other occasions, it has been strongly implied that [[Bree]] had to do the [[Ceremony]] out of her own, free will, no matter what happens: Even after Bree was [[Psychological Torture|kidnapped and drugged]], the Order didn't just force her to do the Ceremony, but tried to "persuade" her to do it out of her own free will. Another indicator is [[Lying Bastards|an overheard phone call]] [[Alex]] had, in which she says about the same incident: "[...] I do care because it's a violation of free will and you know... I know my principles, do you want me to recite them for you? [...]".

In an earlier incident, OpAphid had closed in on Jonas's home, and kidnapped [[Daniel]] straight from the town's bowling alley - yet, instead of saying "Do the Ceremony or he dies!", they [[Miss Me?|drugged and brainwashed Daniel]] to persuade Bree to do the Ceremony.
