Transcript

Reed: What are we doing here, guys?

Jonas: (restraining Maggie) I think we should wait.

Maggie: Like hell I'm going to wait!

Jonas: Maggie, what are you going to do? You're just going to go in there and do what?

Maggie: What? What's it to you, Jonas? What is— (storms off)

Jonas: (to Reed) Keep an eye on her. Don't let her do anything she might regret again.

Reed: What are you going to do?

Jonas: I have to take care of Sarah.

(Jonas walks down a hallway. Reed watches him for a moment and follows Maggie into a room where Dr. Alderman is tied up.)

Maggie: How are you doing today, doctor? Everything good?

Dr. Alderman: Shut up.

Maggie: No. No, I won't.

Reed: Maggie, Maggie, just calm down.

Maggie: I am calm. I just want to check in with the doctor. Just like you used to do to me. Isn't that right? We just want to make sure that you're okay. Oh, your heart is racing. That can't be good.

Reed: Maggie, this isn't what we brought him for.

Maggie: Just shut up, Reed! (to Dr. Alderman) How may girls have you killed? How many have you tortured? How many?

Dr. Alderman: It was worth it.

Maggie: (slaps Dr. Alderman across the face) Worth it? How could living forever be worth it if people have to die?

Dr. Alderman: Hundreds died so millions could live.

Reed: Or so you can get rich!

Dr. Alderman: You're all children. This isn't about wealth, or fame, or any material gain. This is about saving the human race from extiction. The Order. Verdus. Their whole point is to save a few. The powerful shall inherit the earth while the meek are crushed beneath their boots. It wasn't good enough. So I came up with a plan, a strategy to share it with everyone, to save them all, to sacrifice only a few. Maggie, you are even more special than all the rest. Your body got stronger. The more ribozymes we took from you, the more your body produced. Maggie, you are the fountain of youth. They won't just let you go. Inside of you is something they've been searching for, for centuries. You can live forever.

Maggie: I can't do this. (leaves)

Reed: Maggie?

(Reed goes into another room, where Jonas is cleaning Sarah's wound.)

Sarah: Ouch!

Jonas: Sorry.

Sarah: Ahh!

Jonas: Sorry. Does it hurt?

Sarah: A little bit, yeah.

Jonas: Sorry.

Sarah: You saved my life.

Jonas: Come on, you've saved me plenty of times.

(Sarah and Jonas begin to kiss. They notice Reed and immediately recoil.)

Jonas: Reed?

Reed: Uh, sorry, I didn't—

Jonas: Reed, no man, this isn't what it looks like. Hold on, Reed. Hold on!

Reed: (leaving room) Sorry, I'm just going to—

Jonas: Reed!

Reed: Damn it! (exits the apartment)
