About The Gun is the one-hundred seventy-third video in the lonelygirl15 video series.

Transcript

(Jonas is sitting in a parked car alone and talks straight to the camera.)

Jonas: 'Kay, so we're, uh, on our way back from Mexico. About the gun, um, it was the dumbest thing that I ever... (shakes head.) I acted imbalanced, you know. (Mumbles, then sighs and runs his hand through his hair.) Anyway, um, where did the gun come from? Uh... I stashed it under my seat, on the passenger side, when that watcher came to my house that day. It was my Dad's and, I don't know, it just made me feel safer to have it. I guess, in retrospect, not such a good idea. I watched the video and I don't even remember it, but I was... I was waving the gun at everyone. At Daniel. At Bree. I mean if I were... if I were to hurt one of them, I don't, I don't know what I would do. And I'm pissed. Pissed at Alex. I don't call her Aunt Alex. She's not Aunt Alex anymore. She's just Alex to me. And what she did was inexcusable and unforgivable. I mean I don't, I don't give a damn what the Order wants her to do or what they need from her. I don't care, I don't care anymore. You know, she lied to my face! Twice! Twice. And she put my friends in danger, and for that... (shakes head.) Anyway, uh, I guess out of everybody Bree is handling this the best. Daniel... he's been, uh, drinking... kind of a lot. I, I make a lot of jokes when he's drinking (laughs to himself.) Sometimes it's funny, but nah it's not, it's not funny, it's... he has a serious problem and I wish, I just wish I had the guts to confront him about it. But, you know what I hope? That I learn from my mistakes, and... I'm just tryin' to learn that, yeah, I need to just roll with the punches. Sometimes, it can be kind of a lot.

(Cut to view from Jonas's camera as he moves round the back of the car to film Bree and Daniel approaching. They are carrying some shopping bags and talking to each other.)

Jonas: (Calls out.) Hey team! What you got there?

Bree: Oh I dunno, a little this, a little that.

Jonas: Ah, swee- Oh! Did you get toilet paper?

Bree: No! (Loudly) Are you serious?

Jonas: I don't know, I don't know. That's, uh, anybody's guess, really. I mean it's a bunker. Do they typically come equipped?

Bree: Do you know if it at least has running water?

Jonas: I... think... yes. I don't know.

Bree: (After putting down her shopping bag grumpily, and in a sarcastic tone) Awesome! (Bree walks back towards the shops.)

Jonas: (Looks at the camera.) Oops!

(Cut to view from Jonas's camera as he sits in the driver's seat of his car and looks back at Daniel in the back seat.)

Jonas: So, uh, how's it hanging, tiger?

Daniel: (Raises eyebrows and looks away out of the window.)

Jonas: Sweet! Long and to the left? That's good, that's healthy. That's healthy, I hear. So, um, what d'you get in the store?

Daniel: (Looking out the window and very uninterested in having a conversation) Lunch.

(Camera zooms in on a bottle wrapped up in brown paper on the back seat.)

Jonas: Lunch, nice. What kinda lunch?

(Camera moves back to uninterested Daniel.)

Jonas: A liquid lunch, there?

Daniel: (Raises eyebrows again and looks out of the window refusing to answer Jonas.)

(Cut to Bree talking to camera from the front passenger seat of the car. Jonas and Daniel are in the background still in their seats.)

Bree: So, we're headed to a bomb shelter. We're defending ourselves against those ICBMs.

Jonas: Really it's... it's not a bomb shelter, it's a bunker... but, you know..

Bree: Whatever! But seriously... this bunker, Jonas found whilst sifting through some of his parents' papers at that old cabin. Apparently, it's some kind of safe-house that the Resistance used to use. So... we shall see. (Forcefully) And it better have running water! (Looks at Jonas, who looks back silently and meekly.)

(Cut to Bree talking to the camera from inside a dimly lit bunker.)

Bree: Welcome to the lovely Resistance Inn! Would you care to relax in our rustic lounge area?

(Camera moves from Bree's face to view some old chairs. Daniel and Jonas are cleaning in the background.)

Bree: So, let's see how the maids are doing.

Daniel: (Holding a broom) Not a maid.

Bree: What do you guys think of this place?

(Camera zooms on Jonas holding a spray bottle of cleaning fluid and a dirty cloth.)

Daniel: (Off camera.) It sucks.

Jonas: It's, uh, really dirty. (Holds up dirty cloth for the camera.)

Bree: That is gross. Yeah.

(Cut to an office area of the bunker lit by a single lamp. There is a desk with a computer monitor, a telephone, a typewriter and other miscellaneous objects. There is a whiteboard on the wall with writing on it.)

Daniel: Look at this.

Bree: What is all this stuff?

Jonas: (Looking at a piece of paper) I don't know. It's a map.

Bree: (Referring to some photographic slides, one of which Daniel is holding up to the light) What are those?

Jonas: (Off camera) Might be Europe somewhere?

Daniel: These?

(Camera zooms in on the photographic slides.)

Bree: (Off camera) Yeah, what are they?

(Camera moves on to Jonas reading the whiteboard.)

Daniel: (Off camera) It's a lot of this one girl.

Jonas: I don't know.

Daniel: (Off camera) I wonder if I can get this to work.

Bree: (Off camera) "OTS".

Jonas: This is crazy. This place was, uh, from what I read, I guess it was built by, by some of the people that came before us in the, you know, in the Resistance? It's kind of like a safe-house.

Bree: (Referring to a blueprint) What's that?

Daniel: (Off camera) Did you check the phone?

Jonas: Yeah, it's dead.

Daniel: Is it?

(Daniel checks the phone himself.)

Jonas: They're like some plans...

Daniel: It's not plugged in.

Jonas: ...some building. Maybe it's this structure. Really old.

(Cut to Daniel alone and lying on a mattress.)

Daniel: (Relieved) Aaah! Home sweet home. This bed... (pats mattress)... I'm tellin' ya... I can feel every single spring. It's gonna be amazing. Good thing though I got, I got a chair. (Plays with the broken seat.) Busted. God, it's dusty in here. I think I just got something in my eye.

(Cut to Bree filming herself, presumably outside as there is much more light.)

Bree: Alright. We fixed it up the best we could. (Scoffs.) This is gonna be our home for awhile so... it's gotta be shipshape. How did this become my home? (Laughs half-heartedly.) This is my home!

Notes

Clear recreation of the whiteboard (click to enlarge).
  • Jonas reading the whiteboard.
The bunker has an office area where there is a whiteboard. The previous occupants, members of the Resistance, have left some notes on this whiteboard regarding the Order and the ceremony which can be seen during the video.
  • Although Jonas is credited as the blogger, Bree and Daniel each hold the camera for intermittent periods of time.
  • The term "OTS" stands for Officers' Training School which usually refers to the Air Force. This might explain that the helicopters might in fact work for The Resistance, not the Order.
  • At 1:48 in the video, a car alarm can be heard beeping.
  • This is the third time that BDJ have revealed where they are located.
