Transcript

(Jeremy wipes the camera lens and turns the camera to Steve as he follows him down the street. Steve stops and sighs.)

Jeremy: What’s the matter, Steve?

Steve: (Turns to Jeremy.) Nothing. I’m fine.

(Steve continues walking.)

Jeremy: No, come on, what’s up?

Steve: I don’t know. I just feel that this--

Charlie: Steve!

Steve: Hey!

(Charlie runs from around a corner to greet Steve.)

Charlie: Steve. Hey, where have you been? I’ve been trying to call you.

Steve: Really?

Charlie: Yeah-yeah-yeah. You need to come with me now; I need your help. It’s Jules.

Steve: Calm down, okay? It’s lovely to see you.

Charlie: No, no. We don’t have time for this. You need to come now.

Steve: Alright. (Points to the camera.) I've just got to do a little...

Charlie: You know, I can’t stand around and wait here while Jules gets slapped around by Rupert.

Steve: Yeah, I know. It’s a really delicate situation. I’ve just got one final thing to do and I’ll be right there, okay?

Charlie: (Looks at the camera.) You’re absolutely unbelievable. I mean, for how much longer are you going to be playing this 'cult leader' to all your pathetic followers? When are you going to grow up and actually do something for yourself?

(Charlie looks at the camera disgustedly and walks away.)

Steve: Charlie! (Watches Charlie leave.)

Jeremy: Do you think this is a turning point in her path to enlightenment?

Steve: Oh, shut up Jeremy.

(Steve crosses the street to a pub. Cut to Steve setting the camera in front of a table where The Celestial Network members are sitting, touching hands. Steve walks to the back of the table.)

Steve: Guys, um, uh, release. Release.

(The members slowly pull their hands apart, looking confusedly at Steve.)

Steve: This whole thing was... When I created... Look, The Celestial Network was born out of the fact that I didn’t have any true friends. No one I could connect to on any sort of real level. And the only time I felt accepted - the only time I ever felt a part of something - was when I was in the Hymn of One. I guess I felt the only way I could connect with people was through a spiritual level or a religious one because I didn’t know any other way.

But I’ve realized now it doesn’t have to be like that. I can connect with people. Real people. Real friends. And even more than that. I-I want you to know that I didn’t get into this on a whim. I didn’t. I-I thought about this long and hard, even when I was in the Hymn of One. And, I’m sure you all know, I didn’t get into this to book you out of all- any money at all. We're all aware of that.

I just- I wanted to create somewhere where people could connect without the worry of... without the worry of money and without the worry of greed. I think I did that. But it- it is time to move on.

(Steve sighs and takes off his jacket.)

Steve: I’d like to thank you all for your support. Um... Take care, okay? Uh...

(Steve walks out of the room. The members look astonished at one another.)

Jennifer: I was not expecting that.

Jeremy: At least we got free Ribena in the Hymn of one.

Jennifer: That’s the last time I join a religion run by the friend of someone who jumps on me in the street.

Meryl: Well, his friends did seem a bit weird.

Balthazar: Why were they always filming each other?

(Steve walks back in the room and everyone looks at him.)

Steve: I just... I've got to get the camera.
