Transcript

(Emma and Jonas are walking through tall grass.)

Emma: Okay, I have no idea... where we are right now.

Jonas: Careful. Wa-wa-watch-watch your step here. Wa-watch out. Are we still going north?

Emma: Um, hold on. Let's see. (Pulls out a small red compass.) I don't... north is that way. I mean-that's-that's what it looks like. The bubble's on the end. That means north, right?

Jonas: Yeah, that means north.

Emma: Yeah, then okay. Then that way. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Did you hear something?

Jonas: No. What did you hear?

Emma: I just heard, like, footst-- I dunno. Just go. I thought I heard something.

Jonas: Let's take a break. What do you say?

Emma: No! It's fine. Let's just keep going.

Jonas: No, you know what? Just for me. Let's take a little water break. Let's... regroup.

Emma: Heh, all right. (They both sit down.) Why did I wear shorts? I'm getting, like, scratched up.

Jonas: You okay?

Emma: Yeah, I'm fine.

Jonas: Okay, I think if we just keep heading north, I mean, it's a military complex, right? We're gonna run into it. We're almost there. I promise. (kisses Emma on the head) Let's go, let's keep moving. You wanna hold the camera?

Emma: Yeah, thanks.

(Scene cuts to Jonas and Emma sitting down once more.)

Jonas: So we stopped to take another break. Still haven't come up to this military base yet but I know, it's gotta be right around here. Listen - Daniel, Sarah, I know you're upset. You guys - you just gotta have a little faith. Okay? I do. I mean, I had my doubts about the Resistance at first. But let's just - let's just look at the facts here. They never lied to us once - not once! They told me about my parents and Emma. They told me she was trait positive. And that I needed to save her. Yeah, I don't know what else they can do to prove themselves. And now I get this message, from this Claire person, and look - if they want us to be here, then this is where we're going to be. You guys, you gotta understand! This thing, whatever it is that she has, we nee-we need it. Okay? We weren't enough for Bree. We're not going to be enough for Emma - not without this. I'm here, and I'm taking Emma to meet Claire, heh, and it's gonna work out. It's gonna be okay. All right? Trust me.

(Cut to Jonas and Emma walking once more, uphill. Jonas spots something.)

Jonas: Get the fu--! Sh, sh, sh.

Emma: What?

Jonas: It's a freakin' Watcher. That's why. I think it's the same one from last week.

Emma: Are you kidding me?

Jonas: No.

Emma: Jonas, are you sure we can really trust this woman? I really think that we were set up.

Jonas: Of course we can trust her.

Emma: You sure?

Jonas: Yeah.

(Jonas pulls out a gun and aims it at the Watcher.)

Watcher: Hey--!

(A shot is fired and the Watcher goes down. Emma screams.)

Jonas: Who'd that come from?!

Emma: I dunno! That wasn't you?

Jonas: No. Whoa!

(Claire steps from behind a tree. Jonas quickly points a gun at her and Claire pulls up her hands.)

Claire: I'm Claire. Are you Emma? Are you all right?

Emma: Yeah.

Jonas: You're Claire?

Claire: Jonas? It's fine.

Jonas: That's Claire. That's Claire.

Claire: Are you okay? Are both of you okay?

Jonas: Yeah.

Emma: Yeah, I'm fine.

Claire: Okay, we need to move on very quickly. Let's go. (She stands in front of Emma.) Emma are you okay?

Emma: Yeah.

Claire: What-what's that? Is that a scratch on your leg? Where did you get that? Are you fine?

Emma: Yeah, I'm fine.

Claire: Are you sure?

(Cuts to Claire leading them into a rundown building.)

Jonas: What you guys do for food and water around here?

Claire: There's plenty.

(Jonas helps Emma up onto a platform into a room.)

Emma: Nice.

Claire: Okay, you're ready to start training?

Emma: What, me?

Claire: Yeah, we have to start right now. We have absolutely no time to waste. Are you ready?

Emma: No, I'm actually kinda tired. I just walked--

Claire: Okay, I know you're tired, but we have to start now. We don't have time.

Emma: Ugh...

Jonas: Yeah, I know. She's right. You should go.

Emma: Well--

Jonas: You should get started.

Claire: Emma, I'll show you a place to change. Let's go.

Emma: Okay--

Jonas: Yeah, you're gonna be okay. Gimme a hug and I'll take the camera. Come here. You're gonna be okay. This is good.

Emma: Okay.

Jonas: Hey, Claire!

Claire: Yeah?

Jonas: You don't mind if I like look around..?

Claire: Jonas, I don't care. You can do what you want.

Jonas: Great. Emma!

(Emma gives him a thumbs up with a sullen look and walks away with Claire. He laughs softly.)

Jonas: She's gonna be fine. She's gonna be fine. (Jonas explores the broken down surroundings in various places.) Not exactly the military compound that I had in mind. In the middle of absolutely nowhere. Wonder how many girls have been trained here. I don't even know if these stairs will hold us. This place is freaking me out. (Cut to Jonas filming Emma and Claire training.) Claire's been-been teaching Emma some techniques that will help her harness this power, this whatever it is she has. It's really great to see Emma just kinda throwing herself into it. I mean, I don't think she wanted to be here at first. But now, look at her. Look at her smile. It's like... Claire's the older sister she never had - teaching her things, lessons that she's learned, protecting her. Heh, I am so glad we're here. You know what? Sarah, Daniel? This is the right thing to do. I'm sure of it.

Notes

• The techniques that Claire are teaching Emma are very similar to the ones that Lucy taught Bree, thus giving more evidence to the theory that the Resistance could be the Order.
• If Claire is indeed a member of the Order then she may play a role similar to Lucy - that of a Helper.
