Transcript

Gavin: Hey, I'm back. I haven't done one of these for a while. The, um, the last few weeks have been... well, mental, to be honest. Uh, prison was "interesting", as you'd expect from someone who's nine stone dripping wet. Although, I did meet some cool people, actually; Bagsie, Ledge. (Laughs.) Any rate, if you've seen Sophie's Video, you'll know that the Order got me out of that one, uh, with their somewhat disconserting level of influence on the British legal system. Still, they haven't been to murder me yet, which, you know, is a bonus.

Anyway, now all I have to worry about is the rest of my entire life. Still really no idea what I'm gonna do, but until I come up with a plan I'll be living at large at Auntie Joan's, and working like a Japanese beaver in this craphole... washing pots. Still, it is good to be free.

(Gavin walks down the street, zooming on various things that interest him, such as a girl's bum and mannequins in a store window.)

I know I wasn't exactly Kate's biggest fan, but I'm gonna be at that memorial service tomorrow for Charlie's sake. And I know she isn't exactly my biggest fan at the moment, either, but I'm gonna give her all the support I can.

(Cut to a van turning the corner.) What do you get for somebody that you never really liked? (Cut to a store window displaying sweatshirts.) You know, what says "Yeah, I hated you, but I'm here at your memorial service for the benefit of my ex-girlfriend"? (Pans the camera to show perfume in the window.) Well, actually, that's a bit harsh; I never really hated her. We were just- We were just two different people. I'm not a posh bint, for example. (Approaches a flower stand.) Oh, here we go.

Uh, 'scuse me, 'scuse me. Uh, how much does it cost to write "Genevieve" in flowers?

Florist: It depends which ones you have, mate. 200 quid?

Gavin: Oh, um... What-what about "Kate"?

Florist: Uh... 80, 90-ish?

Gavin: Really? Uh... What about just-just "K"?

Florist: 20 quid, mate.

Gavin: Oh. Uh... (Turns the camera toward himself.) Yeah, I-I know you're all thinking what a tight-ass I am, but can I remind you all that I worked a fourteen-hour shift today? And when you factor in my travel expenses, and the staff lunch - which they make you pay for, by the way - and the deposit for my lovely uniform, you'll forgive me if I don't wang the lot on the lovely Genevieve. (Turns the camera back to the florist.) So, uh... (Pans the camera over the flowers before settling on a bunch of orange gerberas.) Uh, that-that- One of those. That one. Yeah.

Florist: (Picking a gerbera out of the bunch.) One of these?

Gavin: Yeah, one of those.

Florist: Just one of these?

Gavin: Yeah. That's all right, isn't it?

Florist: Alright, mate. I'm sure it's a fitting tribute.

Gavin: Well, actually, I- I think it is. It's about right. Uh, how-how much does that cost?

Florist: (Sighs.) £2.40

Gavin: Yeah, that'll do. (Lowers the camera. Cut to Gavin walking away with the gerbera.) Thank you!

I hope this is alright. Well, I-I m- They say it's the thought that counts, though, isn't it? And I think we can all see how much thought's gone into this, so...

I wonder if Tariq will be there tomorrow. I hope he sees this and realizes that it's okay to come back. I think things all went a bit tits-up between us, but, truth be told, he's... he's all I've got. If-if I- If I even have got him. I mean, I don't even know if he'll want anything to do with me after everything that's gone on, but...

I hope he is there. Charlie needs all the support she can get, and... should be a pretty interesting day. See you tomorrow.
