Transcript

Bree: If I had any place else to go right now... I wouldn't be here. Really, I don't even know why I'm doing this. I don't have anything to say. It's like I'm supposed to constantly reassure them that I'm dealing with things because my situation makes them uncomfortable. All that Daniel and Jonas want to talk about, and they can't believe that I don't. [sic] I sort of reached a breaking point earlier this week, and I thought that they might give me some space, but... not so much. The bathroom is pretty much the only place I can get some privacy, and that's only if the water is running or I'm drying my hair. Otherwise, they're knocking on the door, asking if I'm okay, every two seconds. I'm not okay. This morning he said to me that we're both trying to hurt each other by saying things we don't mean. Daniel really thinks he can dictate how I feel, even retroactively, which is... odd.

If I had the option of not seeing my father killed right in front of me, I'd have taken it. My dad, he told me a lot about the Order, and not a single thing was positive. My dad told me the Order takes these girls who show potential, at birth, and place them in controlled homes. [sic] Apparently, there are thousands of them, but once they hit puberty only a fraction of a percentile develop the characteristics needed for the ceremony. My mom was higher up in the Order. My dad told me that there are different levels and people on the lower levels know very little. My dad is gone, and I don't want to have anything to do with my mom. The more it sinks in, the more I realize that... I don't have anyone, and... I'm completely alone.

Notes

  • In her previous video My Dad Said..., Bree mentioned that she wouldn't be speaking to her mother anytime soon. This video clarifies that her mother is still alive and has a high rank in the Order. The negative things Bree's father told her about the Order in his last hours probably included mention of wrongdoings by her mother, who knew more about the Order than her husband, and was probably withholding information from both of them.
  • While it's clear that Bree was one of the girls that the Order placed in a "controlled home," that phrase strongly evokes the plot of the fan-created series, itscassie. However, in Cassie's case, she could not have been taken at birth, as she was a classmate of Bree's and Daniel's.
  • The original script for this video was 6 pages long. During this version, writer Glenn Rubenstein had Bree say that she talked to her stuffed animals because it would make Daniel leave her alone. He thought this was preferable to actress Jessica Lee Rose's take as Bree being a little "special needs." [1]
