Transcript

(Julia is at her desk, stirring a cup of coffee with a pen. She taps the pen against her cup and puts it aside. She looks around, seemingly bored, and then picks up the camera.)

Julia: Hi. I thought I'd post this blog 'cause I've got a lot of stuff going on in my head at the minute. And I know I didn't know her, and I know she was the cause of so much crap between Tariq and I... But it-it still really affects you when someone you know dies. I'm worried about Charlie - Charlie and I have got to know each other a little bit more over the last few weeks - and I don't want her suffering. And there's Tariq. Yeah, we broke up, but... you know, I still really care about him. And I don't know where he is, and I don't know if he knows about Kate, and I don't know if he's in hiding from the police or from the Order, or whether he's spoken to anyone that might know- anything about what happened. Um, about who killed Kate, I mean. Tariq, if you're watching, please call me. I really do respect you.

(Julia places the camera back on her desk and sips her coffee. Cut to Julia standing outside Gavin and Charlie's flat. Julia rings the doorbell and Charlie opens the door.)

Charlie: Hey.

(The camera drops, showing their feet as they presumably hug. Cut to a shot of the main room. The camera looks around and then pans to Charlie, who is making tea in the kitchen. The doorbell rings and Charlie puts the box of tea in the cabinet.)

Charlie: I'll get it.

(Charlie walks past Julia to the front door. She unlocks it to reveal Steve, who is looking depressed.)

Charlie: Hey. Steve?

Steve: Hey.

Charlie: Hey, come here. (Hugs Steve.)

Steve: I'm sorry. Charlie, I... I shouldn't have come here. I just... didn't know where else to go.

Charlie: Don't be sorry, I'm glad you're here. Come in. (Closes the door behind Steve.)

Julia: Why don't you guys go and sit down and I'll make you some tea?

Charlie: (Smiles.) Thanks.

(Charlie and Steve walk past Julia to the main room. Cut to Charlie and Steve sitting on the couch, looking depressed..)

Julia: Shall I, uh, put the radio on?

Charlie: Yeah. I could do with some mindless distraction.

(Julia clicks on the radio.)

Radio: -to a potentially telling development in the Brick Lane murder case. Sources today have revealed that some sort of occult symbol was found etched in blood at the scene of the crime. It is believed to belong to the religious group, The Hymn of One. Quite what the implications of this are remain to be seen, but it has been suggested that it could point to an occult spiritualistic connection. And in other news, the estate-

(Steve is visibly disturbed by the broadcast, and Julia quickly turns off the radio.)

Steve: Uh... I'm sure there's some explanation for this. (Places his glass on the coffee table and quickly gets up to grab his coat.) See you later. Ta. (Leaves.)

(The camera pans back to Charlie, and Steve slamming the door can be heard in the background. Charlie looks up helplessly at the camera.)
