Katherine Elizabeth Pawlak is the actress who played Emma in the lonelygirl15 web series. Aside from her work on lonelygirl15, she has played characters in a few small movies, in music videos, on TV and on stage and done work as a writer.
Before getting involved in lonelygirl15, Katherine worked as an intern for a casting director. As it happened, another girl who worked with this casting director was friends with Jessica Lee Rose and recommended the lonelygirl15 videos to Katherine. Katherine then saw an advert for the VH1 Big in '06 awards, which honored Jessica. By the time the casting notice for Emma came out, Katherine was happy to apply.
Since getting the job, Katherine has watched the Lonelygirl15 Season 1 Recap and Season 2, but has avoided watching the older videos with Bree to prevent herself from picking up too many of Bree's mannerisms. She maintains that the two are seperate characters, and she doesn't want Emma to be considered the "new Bree."
Passionate about music, Katherine once considered pursuing a songwriting career. Aside from her vocal talents, Katherine can play the piano, clarinet, and guitar. Although she plays some classical music, Katherine mostly writes her own material; gathering inspiration from Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, and Queen. She enjoys listening to music, as well, and her current favorite songs are "Exit Music (For A Film)" by Radiohead and "Helena" by My Chemical Romance. She also listens to Spector, The Beatles, Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Portishead, Queen, Amy Winehouse, Muse, Keane, The Strokes, The White Stripes, and Coldplay. Even before finding out about "bloggers" on YouTube, Katherine used the site to find music.
In November of 2007, Katherine acted in Marcello Daciano's short film, Laura. The film screened for the first time on Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 and has been submitted to the Cannes Film Festival. Later in 2008, she had a leading role in the short film The Rhapsody.
Katherine recently won a staring role in a new horror film that will be shot in Romania. The movie, Perkins 14, is slated to be released at part of this year's After Dark Horrorfest, which features "8 Films to Die For".
