Compulsively organizing this shizznit...

Would we like these words in alphabetical order or chronological order? They are in neither at the moment. --Brucker 11:36, 22 January 2007 (CST)

Hmm... since it's a list of firsts, it should probably be chronological. That will also make it easier the first time Daniel calls Bree a "bitch" or a "whore" -- we can just tack it at the end.--JayHenry 11:43, 22 January 2007 (CST)

Bree doesn't swear enough

Since bree burst out with "there are a million fucking different religions", in her argument with Daniel, it doesn't make sense for her to go through all the stressful shit, she's gone through since, without swearing; usually people swear more when they are under more stress than less. If Bree never swore tyhen it would make sense, some people just don't believe it's ok to swear, but since Bree does swear, she should swear alot, given what's happened. Misty 22:42, 9 February 2007 (CST)

That probably ought to be worked into the article, it's a good observation. Also, Misty, I just wanted to reclarify what Jay said before about the instance from The Cowboy; the list is a list of first appearances, so it doesn't technically belong here after all. --Brucker 17:34, 13 February 2007 (CST)

Crap as offensive as shit?

Are you sure? I really don't think crap, as a euphamism, is nearly as bad as shit or even a bad word at all. HyeMew 18:41, 13 February 2007 (CST)

I use the term all the time, but some people get very offended when I use it. I think the idea is that the words are perceived as offensive. Really, in U.K. I'm pretty sure that calling someone a "wanker" is about as offensive as calling someone a "dork" in the U.S. Speaking of which, I wonder if we ought to add "dork", which, while used interchangeably with "nerd" these days, happens to be a slang word for penis. --Brucker 19:31, 13 February 2007 (CST)
We should definitely add "dork" with exactly the caveat you mentioned -- although used interchangeably with "nerd" it technically means "penis." As for crap, I didn't know anyone considered it as offensive as shit -- though some people certainly consider it offensive, I imagine if you said "shit" these people would be more offensive. Perhaps softening the language a bit.--JayHenry 23:17, 13 February 2007 (CST)
Dork was a commonly used word on Saved by the Bell of all things. Dork has a very benign connotation despite what it technically means, I would be very opposed to seeing it on the "four letter words" list. If it's good enough for the FCC and can get on children's shows... 71.224.243.78 23:44, 13 February 2007 (CST)
Uh... Hye, in case you didn't notice this page is kind of a joke. See, including "dork" is funny for exactly the reason you gave.--JayHenry 23:49, 13 February 2007 (CST)

I object to the division of these words into more and less offensive. People who find "damn" offensive will also find "hell" equally offensive, but in general, you never can tell who will find what offensive. Case in point, "Wanker"; I couldn't believe that there was an uproar about it. Like I sais about "dork" above, it's really a word that it highly acceptable to most people despite its roots.--Brucker 14:42, 14 February 2007 (CST)

I Like that we talk it out instead of back and forth reverting.--TJ Marsh 16:09, 14 February 2007 (CST)

I don't like the division myself. Never mind that it's set up to be inaccurate, since different people will react with varying intensity to certain words--it's also not contributing anything useful. Who really cares when they said less offensive words as opposed to more offensive words? It just kinda breaks up the list. OwenIsCool 16:07, 14 February 2007 (CST)
I know that some people find some words more offensive than others, but let's not get TOO subjective. I mean I could say that to me the word monkey is worse than shit and that I can get a petition of 50 people who agree. Does that mean monkey should go on the page? The truth is, no matter what SOME people think, words like crap and dork just AREN'T as offensive. I mean think about it, the FCC obviously has to make such determinations and those words are allowed on tv which I really don't shit is. So no matter how relative you want to get, you can only go too far before practicality intervenes. I don't support crap and dork being in this list. HyeMew 17:55, 14 February 2007 (CST)
My main point may have gotten lost in my mention of the subjectivity issue. It was, in a nutshell, "yes, some words are more offensive than others, but who the crap cares?" (ha! I used "crap") Seriously though, if it's that obvious, why do we even need to divide it? It adds no information and it just looked so much better as the single list. OwenIsCool 10:54, 15 February 2007 (CST)
Agree with Owen. This page is for fun. It's not super-serious-encyclopedia time. Maybe we need a warning at the top of the page that says: "This page contains humor. If you don't have a sense of it, please move along." --JayHenry 11:06, 15 February 2007 (CST)
Or better yet, "...fuck off." Or would that be rude? --Brucker 11:53, 15 February 2007 (CST)

These words should never be said in church or if you are under the age of 13.

I Removed this on violation of policys. for having Racism in this. i dont mind what you wrote intill the black and white comment. anyone that wants to read what misty wrote, view history --TJ Marsh 00:13, 16 February 2007 (CST)

did you even read what I said???? I was making a point that this is no better than racism, I wasn't being racist. 01:23, 16 February 2007 (CST)

I don't think Misty was being racist. But Misty, come on, it's a joke! The reason we said under 13 is because of PG-13 movies! It's a reference to that -- it's not an insult against 12-year-olds. And, really, we all started our lives as people under the age of 13. It's not at all the same as race.--JayHenry 01:37, 16 February 2007 (CST)

Things like like PG-13 movies are what got me started on my (unfairly censored) rant to begin with, do you know how many movies I wanted to see, that I couldn't because they were PG-13 or R.

Agree with Misty and Jay on this one. Her comment didn't need to be censored. She was simply comparing racist discrimination to age-ist discrimination. However, I do think it was an outlandish comparison to make. Many people, Misty, younger and older than 13, choose not to swear because it's more polite and give a better impression of you. I don't know your parents, but usually the 'rents just don't want their kids to pick up on bad habits that are hard to kick later on. If your parents really do only care that you don't swear just because you're under 13... then do realize that this sentence is actually making fun of people like that. By the way... I hope you didn't create a forum account because that would mean you clicked the "I am over or exactly 13 years of age" button. Don't worry I won't tell.  :-x
