Difference between KM and LG15's relationship to alcohol

I've never lived in the UK, but the difference between the (southern) US (where I grew up) and Norway is profound when it comes to drinking - here in Norway it's something that happens, sometimes to excess, but often just moderately and responsibly at home. In the US, I never saw alcohol consumed at all until I and everybody else moved away from home, then everyone went bananas. Obviously, that's not the exact case with the lg15 characters, but it's obvious Daniel hasn't seen any moderation at home - his parents are drunks, aren't they?
