Talk:Moonchild

From LGPedia

I object strongly to the recreation of this page for the reasons stated at Talk:Aleister Crowley. This theory still fails at explaining why any reasonable person would believe that there is a connection to lonelygirl15. Wild speculation is welcome at the forum, but here on the LGPedia, I think we should have a higher standard.--JayHenry 14:43, 16 January 2007 (CST)

The Moonchild concept goes into what has transpired in the past. One purpose of the LGpedia was to be a reference source for many of ideas we had come across instead of having to wade through 500 pages of forum to find something when you recollect something. The fact that OwenisCool has started some work on a speculation section..At the very least the idea of a moonchild is something that took up a pretty fair amount of discussion on the forums during your absence from them. It is something that I find myself having to explain when someone watches my secrets of denderah revealed video. They go into the history of what we theorized the ceremony might actually be about. That is something that I intended to write in the page. For some of us it has become a part of our vernacular that we find others say "HUH?" in response to. The Babalon Working of the sort that John Parsons and L. R Hubbard attempted with Parsons wife is an attempt at creating a "moonchild" type being. I haven't had the chance go dig through the forums and get some of our reasons for this theory...though I intended to attempt it. There was the name calling of Bree by her school peers of the name "Stargirl"..Stargirl..moonchild..those are not real HUGE leaps from one name to the other as both would seem fitting for some otherwordly ethereal being. It doesn't mean that Bree IS any of these things or will bear any of these things..only that we have thought it possible that SOMEONE in the Order believed it. Powerful successful people have followed beliefs as equally wild. When we are dealing with a lot of conspiracy theories and a group that very well may be Illuminati, wild theories are the ORDER of the day. I know I have read some REALLY wild theories that eventually were debunked and included in the discussion to help show the evolution of thought. Also, with the fact that Bree has been confirmed to be a "CHOSEN" one given to a hand picked family to raise and be made ready to participate in the ceremony....some 16 years later... WOW..thats..ummm..pretty wild... --70.196.153.105 02:33, 17 January 2007 (CST) Damn timeouts --LordGreystoke422 02:34, 17 January 2007 (CST)
This reminds me of the Baphomet page. It was nominated for deletion (by me, I think), and some people stood up for it saying that even though it was not relevant to the plot, at one point fans really had speculated that Bree had a picture of Baphomet on her wall. The new screencaps show it's an old family photo, but we kept the article. Rather than struggling to find connections to the LG15 story, we clarified that it was just speculation and gave a little background. I think that kind of article is useful to people who say, might have wondered what your moonchild ref means in the video. A succint article explaining how this was part of the speculation around Bree's ceremony (however unfounded it might be), and showing how the moonchild thing spilled over to spinoffs, forum discussions, running jokes, etc. might be okay. I agree with JayHenry that it's kind of a ridiculous theory, but if the Baphomet page is on there, I don't know why this is any less deserving. OwenIsCool 12:00, 17 January 2007 (CST)
I agree with OIC. The Baphomet page is an excellent example of how, when a really bad theory is included in the LGPedia, it needs to be contextualized and debunked. I want to emphasize that I think this is the first step, not something to get around to addressing when there's more time. In order to keep this page on Moonchild, we need to say why people thought it had a connection. It's not good enough to say "Some people thought" because "Some people think" that Jonas and Daniel are gayliens. There must be a reason. So the first step is saying "why a moonchild." And then the second step is saying why the theory is now debunked -- we know now that the injections were EPOGEN and not birth control, and this theory is no longer relevant, etc. Then once the first two steps -- the important steps are added -- then we can go around saying Moonchild, blah, blah, blah.--Jay 12:23, 17 January 2007 (CST)

What is that Babalon Working reference in the article? 130.91.75.251 13:41, 18 January 2007 (CST)
