Tariq's parents, The Bharttis, were from India and raised their son in the Muslim faith. Tariq and his dad, Mr. Bhartti, used to go to West Ham football games together. However, he is now dead, which greatly upsets Tariq. Tariq has been prone, since his dad's death, to take his frustrations out with his fists. His dad's funeral was held out in India, and it was the last time Tariq had been there until he decided to go there to escape his problems in London. Once there, he decides to stay and start a new life with his mother, Mrs. Bhartti,, who still resides there.
