Transcript

(The camera pans over the front of Bill Cowan's building. The camera pans to Lauren, hiding behind a bush, as she looks at her watch. Cut to Bill using his inhaler inside the flat. Cut to Charlie as she looks at the camera. cut to Julia, Rupert, and the Shadow getting out of a car and walking into the building. The camera pans to the front window of the flat. Cut to Julia storming into the flat.)

Julia: Where is she?

Charlie: She's gone.

Julia: Dad, are you all right?

Bill: Yeah, I'm all right, darling.

Julia: Well, if you're not gonna tell me where she is, then I'm going to have to beat it out of you, aren't I, Charlie?

Bill: Jules!

Julia: Dad, I'm all right.

(The camera zooms in on a mirror in the hallway showing the Shadow watching.)

Charlie: I didn't come here to fight. (Cut to a close up of Charlie.) We came here to talk to you about what's been going on between you and Rupert.

Rupert: Excuse me?

Julia: You what?

Charlie: We know he's been hitting you.

(Rupert laughs.)

Julia: Oh, yeah...

Rupert: That is ridiculous.

Julia: This again, yeah? Have you not worked it out yet, Charlie? It was a set up.

Charlie: Yeah, maybe what you filmed in the toilet, maybe getting us to go to Paris. But not what we filmed through the window; that wasn't staged.

Rupert: You know what? We do not have to stay here and listen to this. Let's go.

Charlie: How can you believe this scum over your friends?

Julia: "Friends"? Oh yeah. 'Course.

Charlie: Yes, friends. Well, we were friends, despite everything he's been saying to you.

Julia: Grow up, Charlie.

Charlie: Hey, what is this? Is this some game for you? Playing the super bitch in the situation, clinging onto this sham of your relationship? He doesn't care about you.

Rupert: Oh, how dare you?

Julia: You've said your piece now. What was it you both came for?

Charlie: Well, if you're happy with Rupert... You know, all I want is peace. No more of this craziness. No more kidnapping, no fighting, no framing, no arguing. I just want an end to all this. Let's go, Lee.

(Charlie leaves. Lee follows, filming the Shadow on the way out. Cut to Charlie and Lee walking out of the building and across the street.)

Charlie: Hey. You two okay?

Steve: Yeah. How are you, more to the point?

Charlie: All right.

Steve: Someone's coming. Get behind the bush.

(Charlie and Lee duck behind the bush. Cut to the Shadow leading Julia, Rupert, and Bill out of the building.)

Rupert: Look, Bill, I, um... I just really want you to know that I--

Bill: Save it. Save it.

Julia: Dad, it really wasn't what it looked like.

Rupert: Look, we need to go now.

Julia: Yeah, just give me a second--

Rupert: Now! (Grabs Julia's arm.)

Julia: Okay. (Pulls her arm away.) Bye. (Hugs Bill.) Take care.

(Julia walks to the car. The Shadow holds the door open for her as she gets in.)

Julia: Thank you.

(Rupert gets in next to Julia and the Shadow walks around to the driver's side of the car and gets in. Cut to Bill standing nearby as they drive away. He shakes his head and goes inside. The camera pans to Charlie, Lauren, and Lee standing behind the bush.)

Lee: Poor Jules...

Charlie: Julia doesn't matter to me. I was ready to kill her yesterday. She's got much worse in store for her if she's going to spend the rest of her life with him.

Lee: (Turns to Lauren.) Hey, you! Why didn't you tell us it was your birthday?

Lauren: I dunno.

Steve: Oh, it's your birthday?

Lee: Well, we're gonna have a party anyway, aren't we?

Lauren: Oh, what?

Charlie: It's a good idea.

Steve: Yeah!

Lauren: It's alright, thanks.

Charlie: No, it's just what we need.

Steve: I know, it would be fun.

Lauren: This is so lame. (Walks away.)

Lee: Oh, come on!

Steve: We could have finger biscuits!

Charlie: We're going to have a party, alright? It's gonna be good.

(Cut to Charlie driving her car. The camera pans to Lauren sulking in the back seat.)

Lee: Cheer up, you miserable git.

Lauren: Why?

Charlie: What the hell?

(The camera zooms in on a car nearby with an open door.)

Steve: Isn't that Rupert's car?

(Charlie parks near the car and everyone gets out. They walk over to the car to find the rear window smashed.)

Charlie: Oh my god.

Steve: Shit.

(The camera goes around everyone else to see inside the car. Rupert is laying inside with a large blood stain on his shirt.)

Lee: Is he dead?

(Cut to a close up of Rupert.)

Steve: Rupert? (Feels Rupert's wrist.) Oh, there's a pulse.

Lee: We've got to get him to a hospital!

Lauren: Are you kidding me? After everything he's done to us?

Lee: I don't believe this! What are you thinking?

Charlie: I know, alright? I get what you're saying. He deserves it.

Steve: Let's just think about this, okay? We've still got a debt with the Order - well, I have - for shooting that cab driver. If we do this, it could clear me!

Lauren: There is no way I'm playing a part in saving that dick head's life!

Steve: Yeah, I know what you're saying, but this could be our way out. We do this, we could actually start leading normal lives again.

Lauren: Yeah, maybe. And maybe not.

Lee: I say do it!

(Steve smiles at Lee.)

Lauren: No way.

Steve: Charlie?
