Touch the Toyota is the one-hundred ninety-second webisode in the KateModern video series. It is also the thirty-seventh video of season two.

Transcript

Julia: (On the phone.) Hello? Yes, I've been on hold for five minutes. No, I don't want the telephone number; I need the address. Now.

Lee: (Running over.) I've got one, I've got one.

Gavin: Great, great, great. Give it here; gimme it.

Lee: Yeah. (Hands Gavin a map.)

Gavin: Uh...

Julia: (On the phone.) Hello?

Gavin: A street map of Edinburgh, not Glasgow! (Smacks Lee with the map.)

Lee: Well- Ow.

Gavin: Go. Go and get a map. Go and get a map! (Lee runs away.) So- So here we are in Edinburgh, and, uh, as usual, everything's gone tits-up. And- Where do I begin? Um... (Cut to a shot of numerous people standing around Charlie's Aygo, with their hand on it.) Okay, uh- uh Julia was trying to run some s-stupid competition, uh, to give away, uh, Charlie's car.

Lee: Okay, Julia, I think I've got it now.

Julia: You say we're gonna make JustIncredible.TV's visit to Edinburgh unforgettable.

Lee: Unforgettable, yeah.

Julia: "Welcome to 'Touch the Toyota'!"

Lee: The Toyota!

Julia: "We're in Edinburgh, and we're gonna be giving away this beautiful Aygo by Toyota."

Lee: Woohoo!

Julia: Yes, Lee, you may say "woohoo", but one of these lucky Edinburians is gonna be walking away with this Aygo courtesy of JustIncredible.TV. Touch the Toyota. The last person standing, touching the car, wins. Yeah?

Gavin: Tell me you're not doing what I think you're doing.

Julia: Gav, it's cool.

Gavin: Does Charlie know about this?

Lee: No, it's okay; we phoned Justin and he said he's gonna buy her a brand new one when we get back.

Gavin: Oh, right, so the man who won't even stump up a single hotel room is now gonna buy Charlie a brand new car?

Lee: Yeah. Said he's gonna buy us tickets home, as well. (Julia takes the camera.) Said he'll reimburse us when we get back.

Gavin: You know what? You're mental - both of you. Anyway, you can't give it away; she's already given it a name.

Lee: (Cut to Charlie approaching the car, reading a newspaper.) Yeah, but when I was little and my goldfish died, my mum just bought me a new one and we called it the same name. (Charlie gets in her car.) She can just do that, can't she? No, Ch-

Julia: Ch-Charlie!

Lee: Charlie, there-

Gavin: See, I told you.

Julia: What are you doing?

Female contestant: What's she doing?

Lee: No, Charlie, you're on camera- (Charlie revs the engine and honks the horn.) Charlie- Charlie, stop.

Julia: Charlie! What are you doing?

(Charlie drives away.)

Julia: We were giving it away, Charlie.

Female contestant 2: Are they having a bloody laugh? There's no way they can get away with this.

(Julia and Lee approach Gavin, who is reading the newspaper Charlie had.)

Julia: What's it say, Gav?

Male contestant: I came all the way from Newcastle for this.

Julia: What's it say?

Gavin: "Michelle Clore exhibits the work of recently deceased digital artist Kate Strathcorran."

Female contestant: 'Scuse me, you pulling one over on us?

Gavin: We've got to get over there right now! (Hands the newspaper and his coffee to Lee.) My god, Charlie. We've got to get there. (Runs down the street.)

Female contestant: What?

(Lee runs after Gavin.)

Male contestant 2: What's going on?

Male contestant: I've been here six hours!

Julia: Touch that other car and, uh, we'll be right back. (Runs after Lee and Gavin.) Cheers!

Male contestant 2: Hey, come back! Come back here!

(Cut to Gavin back in the street from the beginning of the video.)

Gavin: Michelle Clore is in Edinburgh.

Lee: Gav!

Gavin: Yes, yes. (Takes the map from Lee.)

Lee: Edinburgh.

Gavin: O-okay, okay. (Struggles trying to open the map.) Open it, open it, open it! (Looks at Julia's phone.) Okay, okay. (Gav looks at the opened map.) Uh... (Pointing at the map.) It's only here. It's round the corner. Come on!

(The three start running down the street.)

Notes

• This gameshow concept rarely is a winning idea; there have been instances of the "touch" concept going on for days, for highly sought-after items.
• Gavin mispronounces Kate's name, Strathcarron, as "Strathcorran".
