Trait Positive is the twenty-sixth webisode in the KateModern video series.

Transcript

(Charlie swipes her Oyster card and passes through a gate, boarding a subway)

Charlie: Weird funky chicken Gav said that I had to come see him as soon as I finished work. (sighs in annoyance) This had better be good. I'm missing Kath & Kim.

(Charlie exits the subway and walks down a flight of stairs. Cut to Tariq and Gavin's office.)

Charlie: Run that by me again.

Gavin: It's called trait positive. It was in that stuff Tariq was looking at the other day. He's left it on his computer. You know that weird religion that Steve's a part of?

Charlie: (curiously) Yeah...

Gavin: Right, well two weeks ago, they supposedly killed a girl in America called Bree.

Charlie: And... what does this have to do with Kate, Gav?

Gavin: Well, I looked at Kate's post on here about where she got the blood test done, and I, uh... I hacked into the website through a back door. (smiles briefly at Charlie) Well, the sample was sent to some place in San Diego, California called the Wyman Foundation, you ever hear of that?

(Charlie mumbles a "no")

Gavin: Kate has the same trait positive blood type that that American girl, Bree had. (screen shot of lonelygirl15.com website featuring Bree) Tariq was right! Steve's not taking Kate to find answers, he's taking her to some religious ceremony where they're going to drain her of all her blood or something.

(Charlie takes a seat behind Gavin's computer)

Charlie: I knew that guy Steve was an absolute creep. (stands up abruptly) We've got to do something about this, now!

(Charlie fumbles with the door handle, which is locked and will not open)

Charlie: What's wrong with the door?

Gavin: (with his hand over his mouth) Uh oh. Oh no.

Charlie: "Oh no" what?

Gavin: The deadbolt.

Charlie: What deadbolt?

Gavin: It's the new alarm system, it's set to lock up automatically at 6 pm.

Charlie: (tries door again) And?!

Gavin: Its, um, 6:01.

Charlie: So you're trying to tell me that you can hack into a website but you can't even unlock a door?!

Gavin: (defensively) Look, I got it on the cheap, the instructions were in Russian! Tariq's got the code.

Charlie: Yeah, good one! You're an idiot! Now we're trapped down here while Kate's out there with that weirdo, Steve!

Gavin: Don't blame me, Tariq's the one who's buggered off with the code!

(Charlie picks up a cell phone so as to make a call)

Gavin: That won't work; we're in the basement, there's no reception.

Charlie: Land line?

Gavin: It's not been installed yet.

Charlie: Well, are we online? (cuts back to computer screen)

Gavin: You know what? That is not a bad idea actually. There are people online. Look, Tariq, if you're watching this, um, something's really wrong. I don't quite know what, but I think Kate could be in a lot of trouble. You need to get down to Carnaby Street tomorrow at, um, (turns to Charlie) what time did Kate say?

Charlie: 10 am! 10 am!

Gavin: You need to get down to Carnaby Street tomorrow, Saturday the 18th, at 10 am. In fact, if anybody else is watching, this isn't a joke, this is for real, and we need as much evidence as we can get to show up with. If you can get to Carnaby Street at 10 am tomorrow, Saturday the 18th, then get down there. Take any recording device, I dunno: cameras, phones, anything, and just record anything that looks unusual, or out of the ordinary... I mean, we need as much help as we can get. So... fingers crossed.
