New Sample Series Template

If possible, a series page should begin by stating the series name, its genre, and the date it began.

(example for lonelygirl15: lonelygirl15 is a web series drama that premiered on June 16, 2006 on YouTube. The series later moved to LG15.com. It was created by Miles Beckett, Mesh Flinders, Greg Goodfried, and Amanda Goodfried)

Note: If you have more information than the show name and a logo, you should use Template:Show.

Synopsis

Here is where a summary of the contents of a series should be placed. It should be explanatory enough that someone with no idea of what any of the series listed here would be able to understand. (i.e. Assume no one has previous knowledge of lonelygirl15 or KateModern.) Please try to keep the spoilers to a minimum here, as you are trying to generate interest in the series, rather than explain its events.

(example for lonelygirl15: lonelygirl15 follows the story of Bree, a lonely girl trapped in a mysterious religion that wants to use her blood for its own sinister purposes.)

Characters

A simple list of the main characters can go here, with short descriptions for each. If a separate page is allowed for a character, be sure to link to it here.

(example for lonelygirl15: *Bree - A lonely girl whose blood makes her desirable to the Order.)

Video List

This section is not recommended for a show with basic coverage, as they are typically not properly maintained. If you plan on maintaining a video list, please leave your name as a main contributor on the talk page. This list should be bullets, with direct links to the videos if the series has not been granted extended coverage for the videos (if it does have extended coverage, links should go to transcription pages).

External Links

This section should link to where one can view the series.

Notes regarding this template

  • The series name is nowhere except the Page Name
  • A short summary of the series should exist somewhere on the page, as shown above.
  • This template is to be used ONLY on videos Tier 3 or above, and if you can get away with not using it, please do.
    • A good example not needing this template is for series with only a few authors. For such a case, only a listing of the videos should be necessary, as the authors can be explained in detail above the video section.

List of Videos instructions:

  • Videos should be listed as direct links to the video, unless they are transcribed. Transcriptions are not recommended, but if they exist, there should be NO direct links to the video. In essence, any of the following are a no-no:
Video name ([external_link])
[[transcript|Video name]] ([external_link])
  • Authors linked are the individual posting the video, and should NOT reflect the account it was posted on. (Links only exist if the authors have their page/sub-section of a page.)
    • Authors are only necessary if there are a significant number of different authors of videos for the series.
  • Previous seasons should follow a consistent naming convention, with nothing on the page other than a list of the videos and a link to the main series page. The season pages should be a subpage of the series itself. (If possible, keep previous seasons to a single page listing EVERY previous video, not those from a given season.)
