Because when you call it a farce, you insult all the time I spent trying to decode it. You insult all the time I spent on those videos. We all worked on it. And their hasn't been an ARG since the Human Ransom because Glenn's been writing the LG15 videos. Ding ding ding! |
Not only did the vet players devote so much time to this, and stick by it from the beginning, but think of how much time was taken by anyone who joined late to catch up and read everything, or the people who wrote the huge FAQ and help threads when it all turned canon. Calling it a farce insults a lot of people who devoted time to this. |
The mods who wrote the FAQ threads, the veterans who weren't given answers and solved it on their own, Tiger, myself and others who made videos attempting to explain it. All the research done...there was a lot. Thank you, cb |

You're very welcome. I know damn well that you guys spent hours on this, and that there is no way that people like me could have caught up without so much help, and the videos made. You guys deserve credit for what you did.

I'm simply not willing to give them that much power, and I hope the creators and the constructive part of this community aren't either.
Creators, I hope you are willing to reconsider and bring Glenn back. There is no reason he should be made to suffer over this.
Does anyone else out there see it the way I do?
Note: As for shilling, come on. It's a game guys, get over it. This is being taken way to seriously. If we aren't sharp enough to solve the puzzles, the PM has to do something to move the game along. |
Glenn wasn't paid for doing OpAphid. I'm not even sure he was paid for writing for LG15. Maybe it was part of the canon agreement, along with handing the rights over. I also genuinely hope they will bring Glenn back.

I really don't even know where or what to post anymore. I am completley appalled at some people's behavior and the actions they have taken in this entire mess. There is no way that I am going to continue to support OpAphid anymore, especially now that the creators have control. OpAphid/Tachyon and Crew are 100% Glenns creations and his dream. He gave up so much of himself and his life for entertainment. Now, don't get me wrong, I am aware that many of the OpA players also gave up a lot (i mean hell, i failed my economics class because I was to busy doing puzzles and drops to worry about homework) but, i hate to see what this has come to.
The shilling part.... I really have no comment. OpA gave us hints via email IN GAME, and I guess I haven't made up my mind about shilling and how i feel about it. yesterday, i was FURIOUS... but I don't know how i truely feel now that I have calmed down.
As far as the "nude photos" go..... OI. This is one thing im going to keep my mouth shut about. This is a lose lose situation for everyone. I can say this though....
Anyone who chooses to take nude photos of themselves obvious intended for someone to see them. Whether it was or wasn't Glenn, or any other person in the world. A person takes that type of picture for a reason. No, I am not talking about age here, that isn't where I am going here.
*sigh* ALl i know is there is NO WAY IN HELL the creators can make OpAphid even half as amazing as Glenn did. So, because of that... I am done. Glenn, I am sorry for anything that comes of this, and I am even more sorry that one of your dreams as been shot to hell and back because of what I feel is a misunderstanding.
P.S. this is entirely MY personal opinion and in no way shape or form is speaking on behalf of anyone else.

Wow this thing has turned into a witch hunt. Thank god I'm new, at least I won't be fingered.
As far as another person taking over the ARG is concerned:
Yes these are his characters, yes this is his story, and these are his puzzles. That does not prevent another from coming in and doing a bang up job. The best example I can think of is the third Harry Potter film. New director, everyone is scared including me, that he can't do as good of a job as Chris Columbus. Directs the film and boom its my favorite movie of the series. Some didn't like it, but more people liked it. You could tell it was a different director because it had a different feel, but the characters were still the same characters. He just took the series and made it his.
The short of it. Don't count out a new PM before he/she has even shown up for the job. You might regret it if you do.

I totally agree with you here. No one can run OpAphid. It is Glenn's creation. His dream. His baby. Only he knows the characters and where he wanted the story to go. He is OpAphid. It will fall without him.

PM's have many other routes that they can take when it comes to resolving problems with puzzles.
Shilling is not and should not be part of an ARG.
PM's should also not be known during an ARG, the only interaction they should have with players is in character, and they should use those characters to progress the story, not simply hand solves over willy nilly.
This whole incident whether true or not has created problems for the ARG community as a whole, and now brings into question the trust players have with PM's.
Particularly when there is the need for mailings etc and handing over personal information to a PM.
This is a sad day for all involved in the ARG community and I hope that the community as a whole can recover from this.

I'm a noob to ARGs. OpAhid is the first ARG I ever experienced. What I don't understand about all this is - It's a game. Why does everyone take it so seriously that they are willing to ruin someone's life over it? This really sucks.

You can look at it like that...but if he did this, then he should have know that what he did was very wrong in the eyes of ARG players, I think that's what chixor meant.

| I've never had any direct contact with Glenn, but I can say that this was not handled the way it should've been. Also, I think if pictures were given for clues it was not entirely Glenn's fault, claim some responsibility if you did it because you had to agree to the terms before any kind of trade actually took place and that's if indeed any such thing took place. In terms of the shilling, clues should've been given in a different way, such as the character meant to recieve the message slowly leaking what they had figured out instead of this behind the scenes clue leakage. All in all I can't really put much into this argument, but it's spiraled out of control and if anything is going to get solved the discussion needs to keep some level of decorum instead of all of the mudslinging that's been going on. |
