You know, we have to be very careful as a people on this video, particularly since we're talking about a story with a fringe based religion. If a lot of people jump on the bandwagon that Bree is evil, Daniel is good, and we all start cheering for Daniel to do this and do that resulting in negative feelings towards Bree and her religion, well, I think history speaks for itself there.

The more I think about it, this video is a fork in the road. It's meant to force people to reconsider their loyalties. Do you side with the Daniel or Bree in the outcome of the story. Bree has a religion, she's had it all her life, and regardless of the foundation, it is her religion. Daniel has his own religion, he's likely had it his entire life and based on his beliefs considers Bree to be in a "cult" religion.

So do you side with the one who is trying to "save" Bree from her religion because it doesn't go with his own beliefs, or do you side with Bree and allow her to continue with the ceremony because of her beliefs that she's had all her life? She is only upset with Daniel because he is intolerant of her beliefs.

Persecution based on beliefs is probably the darkest side of our world history. So which side do you choose?

these are great observations, and the cool head with which you seem to be reasoning them is not exactly prevalent here. thanks.

Isn't Salem associated with Plymouth? Maybe the play was about the history of witchcraft in america done for kids?

I read last night that there were only two witch trials in Plymouth, and if my headachey brain is remembering correctly, in both cases the person was acquitted. In one case, I do remember, the person's accuser was charged with libel.

Thanks I didn't know it had already been started (phooey) but it was very interesting. I have family members that are Jehovah's Witnesses I wonder if they know these things as well. I guess the only reason that religion would be ruled out is because of the blatant picture of Al on her wall. Laughing I wonder if he minds that I call him Al.

Johann Weyer was involved with stopping witchcraft trials (He's the person Bree's mom was studying in Edinburgh).

I'm curious now about the libel part.

Why would he have known who the person in that picture even is? I am assuming that he didn't even give two moments notice to the picture and had no idea who Aleister Crowley was either. It is an unusual picture and I would have asked about it...but even if she said it was Aleister Crowley it wouldn't have thought anything about it since I don't know who he is ( I do now but that is only because of the whole LG15 series).

I figured most people at least had an idea of who he was. I think the first I heard of him was due to my liking of Ozzy Osbourne... Razz

But not everyone likes "dark" music so not everyone would have known such things. Based on the music Daniel has used in his videos it doesn't seem to me that he is much of an Ozzy fan...but I could be wrong.

I wouldn't say I'm a fan of dark music...or that Ozzy is really dark...I figured Daniel was a fan of Rock...that's all I am.

If CiW is part of LG, then Daniel would acknowledge it, right?

But if its not...then it makes sense that he wouldn't even look into it.

If it is part of LG, Daniel obviously needs to find her and talk to her..especially since they both have something in common now---Being freaked out by Bree's religion. Maybe she would have some insight as to what to do or what freaked her out...Daniel might be able to save the day.

If it isn't part of LG, Bree needs to see Daniels video and just notice his concern. Maybe invite him to the ceremony?

other than both being early settlements of Massachusetts and both having had some witch trials (although obviously to very diferent levels), Salem and Plymouth don't have much to do with each other as far as i know (i live very near Plymouth).

PS- i also wouldn't have known who Aleister Crowley was before all of this. the name might have rung a little bit of a bell, but i don't know if it would have had any dark connotation for me at all if somebody had a photo of him hanging on their wall. and i love Daniel and all, but he's not necessarily as observant as most of you guys are. when you're just in a friend's room, a lot of things can go unnoticed for a really long time.

I'm reading through information on the Mayflower passengers. So far, two interesting themes: 1) I've seen at least a couple that hail from Nottinghamshire. I've only just noticed this, so I'll keep a better eye out for that as I keep reading. and 2) mention of having to have church meetings in secret in England, and because of the increasing pressure, fleeing to Holland, and the eventual move to the New World.

Edit: Aha. I'm not crazy - a fair number of the original Seperatists really were from Nottingham.
Quote:
There is also a William Button, son of John, baptized on 13 March 1605 in Worksop, Nottingham, which is where some of the original Separatists were from: so this would be a far better candidate for the Mayflower passenger.

I know I am not going to be popular when I say this but why does everyone get up in arms about Daniel's use of the word CULT? Based on what we know of Bree's religion it seems to fit the definition of a cult. So what? Not all cults are evil or bad so long as the leader isn't asking the followers to drink poison punch or something else along those lines.

And I don't blame Daniel for thinking Bree's religion is weird...it's not one of the mainstream denominations...it's very unfamiliar and strange. She is very secretive about her religion and that is why Daniel knows jack about it. Most people fear what they don't understand. It doesn't mean that Daniel's fear is justified but it is understandable.

Daniel hasn't started any sort of inqusision (sp?)and he isn't persecuting her. He is afraid for the girl he LOVES. Following her was wrong but we all know that was done so we could see what is going on with Bree (it's not like Bree is giving us any info).

Honestly I am beginning to think one of the purposes for LG15 is to help us ask the question, "who is right?" not just in the story but in real life (ie: Republicans vs. Democrats. Both sides are convinced they are right and more enlightened then the other side but who knows which side is really right? Everyones answer is different based on how they were raised, their beliefs, values and education).

I suppose I am reading too far into all this but this video has raised some interesting questions.

But if Bree's parents aren't even allowed to attend the ceremony, how could Daniel be allowed? I don't think it would be that easy.

dude I knew it was egyptian....bree better put some pounds back on because Egyptians LOVE to drink mead, all the time. What dynasty was this Denderah stuff from? Egypt definately knew how to get down..they would party for days...but some dynasties were straight up crazy mass graves type stuff. There is a professor at Penn State that would probably love to talk to one of you guys at great length about the ceremonies. But I'll let you guys figure out which prof it is Very Happy

I'll give you a hint: he is British and has a giant beard

Peace out LG15ers

What up Danny Boy, go back to stalking just don't tape it
