I thought they were both getting shots of the same thing. Maybe she (Julia) wasn't getting shots at all. What if it was just a ploy to lure Bree?

I think the word before "will?" is Epogen. And underneath "will" is --EFFECTS?

it is could also be from cell biopsies, not injections.

1) it would not make sense to draw blood to test for ribozymes. Erythrocytes (red blood cells) do not have a nucleus. Yes, you could test the leukocytes, but that seems inefficient.
2) the injections she was getting may have had not been Order-related, but dad-related. The bandages on her arm now could be from continuing biopsies.
3) the bandages she had on were a little huge for a little injection, but appropriate for a cell biopsy
4) Epogen is injected intravenously, not intramuscularly. Plus, epogen has really nothing to do with ribozymes.
5)Perhaps epogen was a red herring, and has nothing to do with the ceremony. Maybe the Order is Amgen. This entire series is a plot by Genentech to make Amgen look bad so they can take a larger market share

So think of the + with the P in the middle and the O's around it as tape. It's holding the vertical portions of the ladder together (the rungs of the ladder are the N+1 bits and are not important for what we're discussing). So the ribozyme is doing what Daniel described: cutting apart the RNA into sections, and the 'tape' is getting stuck to only one end of it, but you can't reuse that piece of tape again very easily. Hopefully that makes it easier to understand.

I had the good fortune of never taking biology in school, so I am sooo totally a babe in the woods with this.

But

Several years ago I watched a show on Public television about the reason there is a limit to human lifetime. They talked in baby talk just like Nomad did (above) so I kinda understood it. Now what they said is that the "tape" that gets cut in half keeps getting shorter and shorter until there is nothing left. At that point the cell dies and doesn't regenerate.

I think they said that the only cells that recreate that piece of tape are fetal. This brings up a graphic I displayed once before:

This was about globin and in that discussion I mentioned I thought they were looking for a cure for death.

If you look at the graph you can see that the types of globin alter dramatically at birth. Could this be the moment when that "tape" looses it's ability to reproduce? Could Bree's blood traits look like pre-birth? Could the research we did before on the blood be part and parcel of this whole ribosomes thing?

I feel like I'm on my tippy toes batting at something way over my head, but I really wanted to contribute. Did it help?

We were never told that she was getting shots (Jules actually told Misty at one point that she wasn't getting any shots). Had we been told that, though, it could have been a ruse anyway.
