What do you think of a dad who would rather go golfing then attend his sons' first EVER T-ball game? Be honest , I want the truth ,please.

I had a dad like that, except he substituted time with his sons with substance abuse. (Don't cry for me; trust me, there are worse parents, don't make me tell stories)

I think it's fucked up, he better have an excuse, I get heated easily over crap like this.

You should've made this a poll man. Not being an a*****e to you or anything.

No,I appreciate the honesty,I am the mom and thought I was being to sensitive or something. I know this is kinda sappy, but I keep hearing the song 'Cats' In the Cradle" and my heart aches for my son.

I don't know how to do a poll, if you do Spades, make one for me if ya want.

Sorry, I don't know how to edit other people's threads.

But yeah, he has got to make it up, and more than just "Ta-Da, here's that toy you wanted!"

But it's not my family, so I can only advise on what I have learned, and from my perspective. Ultimately, you, he, and your son will have to work things out your way.

I'm sorry, but that's all I think anyone here can give you. It is your choice, and your's alone.

For me.. It would matter who I'm going golfing with.. I mean if it was a situation where I would just be with friends then I'd go to the T-ball game.. I didn't go to my little brothers 1st T-ball game.. Actually I didn't go to any of them except the last.. But then again I think baseball is a gay sport, trying to get my little brother into soccer and football.. lol

Well, I have to be honest and say that its pretty poor decision making on his part. Its one thing if you have to work and there is just no way to get out of it, but its another thing to chose your own hobby over that of your childs. There are some things that my son does that I miss out on because of work, but they way we have them set up they are supposed to be "special" things that he does with his dad or grandmother. I mean, he's taken skiing lessons for 2 years and I've never seen him on the mountain because of my work schedule but that's something he does with dad and grammy and I am pretty much not invited lol. But there are other times when you just have to put your kids first, life be damned. My son's relay team made the state finals for track this year (his first year running) and I was supposed to have rehearsal for a musical that night. Well, sorry to everyone that was depending on me to show up, but I won't be there. Its a pretty big deal for him and I'm not about to miss it. Conversely, his dad has no choice to miss it because of work. He took the day of regional's off and has to work the night of states and he can't get out of it. Does dad feel bad? Hell yeah. Is my son upset? No, not at all. He understands that sometimes work interferes with our lives. I guess its just a fine line that people have to walk and talking things over with you kids usually helps them to understand how things are.

Wow...sorry for the super long post. The point of this is that I think your son should be the priority in this case, not golf.
