Charlie's party

Transcript

Dance music plays. The room is dimly lit and full of people. Image of Gavin’s face. Image of DJ. Unfamiliar man with hat with his mouth wide open, yelling. Image of Charlie’s forehead. Image of Kate stood leaning against a wall smiling. Image of Gavin from low viewpoint, unfamiliar girl leaning on his shoulder. Image of Tariq who mouths ‘You alright mate?” Dark outline of Charlie talking to an unfamiliar guy.

Gavin: Welcome to Charlie and Kate’s flat for a special party report.

Charlie comes into the frame and kisses Gavin on the cheek. She chases Gavin with a can of some kind of cream

Tariq: No… No… No-No-No-No

Charlie: screams Hey Tar…

Kate: sitting in the room Tariq and Charlie run through. Guys… time to go. I just made the bed…

Gavin: It’s a party love… It’s a party.

Shot of Bathroom, Tariq is stood in front of mirror, his head covered in cream. Gavin is stood behind him, visible in the mirror holding the camera.

Gavin: She got… She got you good and proper man. That’s ‘orrible

Tariq: Just rubbing it in aren’t you?

Shot of front door opening, Kate is stood in front of it.

Kate: Hi! How are you? It’s nice to see you.

Steve enters and they embrace warmly.

Gavin: offscreen There’s your girl. Hold on… Hey Tariq. Who’s that guy man? He’s reeling in on your bird mate.

Shot of Tariq still trying to wipe the cream off.

Gavin: Tariq look seriously mate.

Tariq turns around and stares at Kate and Steve. Charlie comes bounding in to the frame.

Charlie: Don’t film Kate! Film me! It’s my party!

Images of Charlie dancing and more images of DJ and other people dancing, Gavin comes into shot, hugging a girl and kissing her on the head ‘Hello’ Shot of Tariq texting on his mobile phone again. He puts up one finger. Mouths ‘One minute’ Shot of ‘unfamiliar hat man’ again, sat against the wall. Shot of Kate sat with Steve. People poke her. Shot of Steve who is smiling slightly. Charlie jumps in to the frame again. Shot of Charlie dancing with an older looking man. Shot of Charlie and Kate, faces close together

Charlie: Who is this weirdo?

Shot of Tariq sat at the side of the room looking forlorn. Shot of alcohol on the table next to him. Charlie comes up to him and points past Gavin who comes in to the shot and to Kate and Steve sat separately from everyone dancing, at the side of the room. They are talking. Shot of Tariq, now stood. Gavin’s arm comes in to the shot and he places a bottle of beer in Tariq’s mouth and tips it. Shot of Tariq stood next to Kate and Steve who are sitting. Kate is looking at Steve. Steve is looking at Tariq. Tariq is looking at Steve. Kate ignores Tariq. Tariq shifts uncomfortably for a few seconds and then walks away, back towards Gavin. Shot of Tariq who is looking quite distressed.

Gavin: Listen mate, seriously, you should have a look, it’s not like stealing. We just want to find out the facts alright? Yeah?

Tariq repeatedly turns around to look at Steve and Kate while Gavin talks. Shot of Steve’s brown leather bag.

Gavin: Get in there and I’ll distract him.

Gavin: Engage the funky chicken… yeah…

Shot of Gavin walking over to Kate and Steve and proceeds to dance the ‘funky chicken’ in front of them. Kate laughs. Shot goes back to Steve’s leather bag. Tariq opens it. He puts his hand in the opening, a workbook is visible and numerous maroon coloured flyers and pulls out a flyer, it is a Hymn of One flyer, ‘The Hymn of One… Join in the eternal song’ Shot of Kate and Steve, shot of flyer… shot of party scene including unfamiliar hat man, now without hat. Gavin is still doing the funky chicken in the middle of the room. Shot of Kate and Steve again, smiling at each other. Tariq goes to the fridge and opens the door. Shot of Gavin unzipping his pants, standing in front of the bathroom sink. Shot of two people talking to each other… Steve and someone else. Kate is sat with her back to the two men talking to some women. Kate turns and stands up next to Steve. Shot of girl dancing, Kate, Steve and the unfamiliar man are visible behind the dancing girl. A man Charlie was dancing with earlier is lying passed out on the floor. Tariq is watching Kate and Steve.

Tariq: That’s really annoying me now.

Shot of Gavin.

Gavin: Did you find anything? You alright? You don’t want grey hair. What’s that for?

Tariq is still watching them, he narrows his eyes and shakes his head.

Tariq: I’m gonna go. He turns and walks out the door. Gavin turns and films the party scene, Charlie bounds up to him

Charlie: Come on ____ boy… show me your moves! Laughs, she has a hold of Gavin’s arm. She drags him a long and then in to the frame with her arm around him. Woo!

Notes

• The Hymn of One pamphlets that Tariq found shows that somebody at Charlie's party is in the Hymn of One. It is most probably Steve, as Gavin distracts him and Kate while Tariq looks through, assumedly, Steve's bag.
