(Taylor is sitting down in front of the bed)
Taylor: Coach put Sam and I against each other in practice again today. No surprise there. Jackie said... (Pausing) Jackie's the team captain, well, we don't have team captains but if we did Jackie would be it. She said that she thinks that coach will start Sam in the next game. (Shrugging) Maybe she's right. (Taylor is now sat hunched up, embracing her knees) I told my mom about it, and she said that I can't hang out with Sam anymore, 'because you can't be friends with someone that you're competing with because then you might decide that your friendship is more important then the thing you're competing for.' Whatever that's supposed to mean. (Taylor rests her head on her knees) Looks like I'm gonna lose my best friend all because I missed a stupid goal.
(Cut to Taylor standing up, holding the camera)
Taylor: Don't get me wrong, I love soccer. My life is impossible to imagine without it. It's just that sometimes I feel like my mom just uses it to teach me these life lessons. I have not once heard her say 'it's not important that you win, it's how you play the game', or 'all that matters is that you had fun.' My mom says that those things are for losers.
(Cut to Taylor sitting down next to the bed)
Taylor: But I've heard other parents say those things all the time. My mom never sits with the other parents either. She says it's because she wants to focus on the game, and all they ever do is talk about what happened on the last Desperate Housewives. But I think it's because the other parents would... think that's she a freak. My mom used to sit on the sidelines and one time the coach didn't put me in until the second half. My mom kept badgering him and badgering him until finally coach told her to watch from the car. My dad was so embarrassed. He insisted that they only watched from the parking lot after that. Anyway, we've got another tournament this weekend- it's a round robin, so that means we have two games on Saturday and two games on Sunday. I really hope that coach starts me, but I also hope that Sam calls soon. We haven't talked since the last game, and we used to talk everyday. Anyway, um, gotta go, bye.
(Taylor is standing up, wearing a jacket. She is standing in front of a door, which has some sort of picture board on it.)
Taylor: OK... I'm still here. I didn't actually go anywhere. I thought that maybe I could ask my sister for some advice, but... big surprise, no help there. She was all like: (with her hair covering most of her face, and speaking in a stern voice) 'The world is suffering Taylor. Deal with it.' And then she slammed the door in my face.
(Cut to a close up on the board, which then pans across to a rose next to it)
Taylor: (off-screen) She's such a weirdo. (The camera shows other pictures and items on the board) She puts a different quote on her door everyday. (The camera shows a close up of a printed note on the door stating 'i talk to god but the sky is empty.' Taylor points to it) That one pretty much sums up my sister. She even named her stupid pet ferret after one of her writer's books. Anyway, I'm actually gonna go now, so bye. (She waves at the camera)
