Transcript
Emma: (Grabs a spoon off of the counter and uses it as a microphone.) Dr. Calvin Hart. Genius or freak?
Dr. Hart: (Laughs.) Can't I be both?
Emma: (Laughs.) Well, you heard it here first, folks; this man is a genius-freak. So you saw on Friday how he got us out of that Verdus Pharmaceutical lab, right? Five security guards - with guns - and this man gets us out with nothing else but one ounce of apple juice. See Jonas, take a lesson: no guns. Apple juice!
Dr. Hart: Shh! You have to let me finish.
Emma: (Laughs.) He's working. See, he doesn't like to be interrupted while he's genius-freaking.
(Emma walks into the kitchen and places the camera on the counter. She gets out a glass, and then brings a tray of chocolate chip cookies over to the camera while smelling them. Fast-forward of Emma putting the cookies on a plate. The scene cuts to Emma carrying the plate with a glass of milk and the camera over to Dr. Hart.)
Emma: Alright. (Places the cookies next to Dr. Hart's laptop.) Dr. Hart's gonna take a break now.
Dr. Hart: He is, is he?
Emma: Yeah, come one, I made you these.
Dr. Hart: (Looks at the cookies.) Alright.
(Dr. Hart closes his laptop and Emma laughs.)
Emma: So tell me about Gina.
Dr. Hart: (Stops smiling.) She was fun. Like you. She was a fun girl.
Emma: (Laughs.) Really? She didn't look so fun in those videos.
Dr. Hart: Well, you have to understand she was really sick then. The first thirteen years of her life, Gina was... Well, I was always amazed at how up she was. How strong and happy.
(Cut to Dr. Hart sitting down with Emma on the couch.)
Dr. Hart: Well, as Gina realized she might- That she wasn't getting any better, she didn't want to be locked up anymore, like a lab rat.
Emma: Well, isn't that why you took her to the concert?
Dr. Hart: I was going to... Gina was the eleventh patient in the Hart Study. It was named after me. Believe that? A program responsible for the deaths of-
Emma: No. You didn't know, though. I mean, you were just trying to help people.
Dr. Hart: If I hadn't been so blind... If I wasn't so ambitious, then I would have known. And there was Gina...
Emma: Yeah, and wasn't she thirteen before she started to go trait negative?
Dr. Hart: For some reason her body stopped responding to the treatment we'd been giving her. Fevers, colds... Immune suppression. But then it got worse. It got a lot worse.
Emma: That's what would have happened to me, huh?
Dr. Hart: But as long as you stay positive...
Emma: Oh, I'm positive. I'm a glass-half-full kind of girl.
Dr. Hart: Yes you are. Now are you gonna help me eat these cookies, or what?
Emma: (Laughs.) I thought you'd never ask.
