Chrys: I got a letter from my mom today. I'm just gonna read it. (She picks up a piece of paper and begins to read.) Dear Chrysandra, I'm so sorry for having to leave you, but you must know that it wasn't my choice. The Elders needed to relocate me for a while. I'm currently staying with your Aunt Sophia. I know that this has been hard on you, and I can't answer all your questions yet. Don't worry, though, everything's going to be okay. You're a smart and resourceful girl, and I know that you'll be fine. You won't be by yourself much longer. I am sending someone to check on you, and when the time is right, you are going to be relocated as well. Please don't worry, everything's going to be fine. I'll be with you soon. Love, Valerie. (Chrys stops reading and holds up a check.) And, also, she wrote me a check. My Aunt Sophia, she lives in England. That's a long way away. So I guess I have nothing to do but wait.
