Emma: Okay. Hi. We need to settle this prom date situation ASAP, because it has been musical chairs in terms of who's taking who, and it's driving me crazy. (Moves toward the camera and crosses her eyes.) But it has to end in a few hours because prom is tonight.

(Cut to Daniel sitting on the couch reading a magazine.)

Emma: Hey.

Daniel: Hey, what's up, how're you? (Throws the magazine behind the couch. Emma laughs.) Hi.

Emma: What're you, looking for tips on the big night?

Daniel: What? What?

Emma: Huh?

Daniel: (Moves closer to the camera.) What is this, like interrogation time, or something?

Emma: Um, yeah. It's my prom.

Daniel: Oh...

Emma: Yeah.

Daniel: ...your prom.

Emma: Yeah.

Daniel: Okay.

Emma: I want a no-holds-barred---

Daniel: (Nods.) Do ya?

Emma: ---real world confessional booth breakdown.

Daniel: (Nods.) Of course you do. Yeah, totally. (Grins.)

Emma: Minus the skankitude, thank you.

Daniel: Ah. Okay. (Emma laughs.) Well, if you really wanna know...

Emma: Yeah?

Daniel: (Looks around.) I'm going stag.

Emma: Really?

Daniel: Yeah.

Emma: Eh, that's not what I heard.

Daniel: What do you mean that's not what you heard?

Emma: I don't know.

(Cut to Jonas sitting on the porch.)

Jonas: Man, I can't believe we're doing this.

Daniel: (Laughs.) I know.

Jonas: You know, I didn't even go to my own prom.

Daniel: Uh, me neither.

(Daniel puts the camera down on a table and sits next to Jonas.)

Jonas: So, uh, tell me. Who's the lucky lady gonna be?

Daniel: (Laughs.) The lucky lady is, uh... Well, I was gonna ask Sarah. (Nods.)

Jonas: (Scoffs.) Sarah? (Daniel shrugs as Jonas laughs.) Really?

Daniel: What? (Jonas laughs.) Yeah.

Jonas: No, well, you know, good luck with that.

Daniel: (Laughs.) Whatever.

(Cut to Daniel on the couch.)

Daniel: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Who told you about that?

Emma: Let's just say someone's been a little too lax about switching out new tapes?

Daniel: Aww, yeah, I wonder who that could've been? I think, uh...

Emma: Uh-huh.

Daniel: Maybe? Just poss-- yeah? (Covers his face.) Shit.

Emma: You left yesterday's footage in the camera.

Daniel: Yeah, I did. Awesome.

Emma: Nice one. (Turns the camera on herself.)

Daniel: That's great.

Emma: Love's a bitch, Duck. Love is a bitch. (Turns the camera on Daniel.) Now go get her.

Daniel: What, now?

(Cut to Emma filming from around the corner as Sarah comes down the stairs.)

Daniel: Hey, Sarah.

Sarah: Yup?

Daniel: Hey, come here.

Sarah: (Stops and turns around.) What?

Daniel: Sit down, sit down. Just- yeah. Have a seat.

(Daniel and Sarah sit at the bottom of the stairs.)

Daniel: Um, you going to this prom thing?

Sarah: Yeah, I kinda have to.

Daniel: Yeah?

Sarah: Yeah.

Daniel: Okay, cool, 'cause, uh... Look. (Laughs awkwardly.) Sarah, I know that... Recently, you and I have had our ups and downs. And- and I know you have strong feelings for Carl, but, um, here I go, huh? I mean, I'd be a fool not to. (Sighs.) Listen, I- uh, it's not like, you know, I'm gonna get another get another chance at this... I mean, it's never gonna happen again, so... What I mean to say is... Sarah, will you go to prom with me?

Sarah: (Sighs.) Um... Daniel, I already asked Carl...

Daniel: Done, okay?

Sarah: Yeah. And um, and he's- he's driving all the way up here.

Daniel: Yeah. It's-- No, you know, it's totally, just- no worries.

Sarah: You know-- I mean, it's just--

Daniel: It's cool, it's cool. It's-- There's no- no big deal. I mean, I... (Puts his hand on Sarah's shoulder.) I wasn't serious anyway.

(Cut to Sarah sitting in a leather chair.)

Emma: So you're done with Daniel, then?

Sarah: No! It- it's not that. It's- I didn't think he was gonna ask me. You know, it's-- (Sighs.) I know he's been really nice to me lately, but I-I thought that was because we were getting back on the friend bandwagon.

Emma: Well, yeah, but Carl over Daniel? (Sarah shakes her head.) I mean, don't get me wrong, I do like the guy, it's just... I don't know, it's like choosing Biff over Marty McFly, you know?

Sarah: Well then, why don't you go with Daniel?

Emma: Uh... That may be a problem?

(Cut to Daniel talking to Jonas on the porch.)

Daniel: So? You gonna ask Jennie, or what?

Jonas: You know what? No. Actually I think I'm gonna ask Emma. You know, it'd be a nice big brother gesture to do, don't you think?

Daniel: Right, but, uh... I mean, if Sarah says "no", I...

Jonas: Yeah?

Daniel: I was kinda thinkin' that...

Jonas: What?

Daniel: ...maybe I could ask Emma, you know. If that's cool with you.

Jonas: No.

Daniel: Not cool with you...?

Jonas: No. No way, man.

Daniel: Okay. (Shrugs to the camera.)

Jonas: Listen to me, and listen to me good: you're not gonna date my sister.

Emma: Uh, excuse me?

Daniel: Oh- oh, God. (Looks away.)

Emma: What was that? (Sits next to Jonas.)

(Cut to Jonas sitting in the leather chair.)

Emma: Jonas, why are you acting like this?

Jonas: Because it's my job to be overprotective of you.

Emma: Yeah, but it's not like anything would happen. I mean, Daniel's sweet, it's just I'm not really into him like that.

Jonas: (Skeptical.) Mmm...

Emma: (Imitates Jonas.) Mmm. Besides, you can't take me.

Jonas: (Laughs.) Well, why not? I think it would be kinda cool. Right?

Emma: It didn't seem so "cool" with your girlfriend yesterday.

(Cut to Jonas sitting on the porch.)

Jennie: Uh, why is Daniel afraid of you? (Sits next to Jonas.)

Jonas: Huh?

Jennie: Yeah.

Jonas: Oh! Oh, 'cause I told him I didn't want Emma going to the prom with him. (They both laugh.)

Jennie: Speaking of which, uh, when're you gonna get around to asking me?

Jonas: Oh, well, actually I was gonna ask Emma.

(Jennie laughs.)

Jennie: What? I don't think so.

Jonas: Oh, Jennie, tell me you're not taking this prom thing seriously. (Laughs.)

Jennie: Yes, I am! (Laughs as Jonas groans.) What? You can't take your sister, you have to take the girl you've been fooling around with for the last few months. (Giggles as Jonas puts his arm around her.) Who do you think you are, Jake Ryan?

(Jonas and Jennie laugh as he hugs her. Cut to Jennie sitting in the leather chair.)

Jennie: Well, it was the sweetest thing when he asked me.

Emma: Um... right.

Jennie: (Giggles.) Come on! (They both laugh.) No, I am seriously excited for prom. I mean, you know, slow dancing... pressing your bodies together--

Emma: Okay, enough! Thank you.

Jennie: (Laughing.) Hey! (Emma laughs.) Who're you going with?

(Cut to Emma walking to Daniel's room, where he is lying on the bed.)

Emma: Daniel?

Daniel: (Looks at the camera.) Oh, hey.

Emma: Hi.

Daniel: (Sits up.) What's up?

Emma: Um, I was, um... I was wondering... Uh... Alright, would you like to go to prom with me?

Daniel: (Laughs.) Uh, ye- yeah, yeah!

Emma: Yeah?

Daniel: Yeah, why not? A-as-as long as you don't tell Jonas, but--

Gina: What? (The camera whips back to show Gina entering.) Really? You used to flirt with me, and now you have the nerve not to ask me to prom.

Daniel: (Laughs.) Uh, it's-- (Emma laughs.)

Gina: Unbelievable.

Daniel: No, no, I-- uh, I jus-j-- oh God. (Leaves.)

Gina: You're so caught.

Daniel: Oh no!

(Emma and Gina laugh as Daniel dashes out of the room. Cut to Gina, biting her nails, sitting in the leather chair.)

Emma: So, how do you feel about this whole... date situation? (Laughs.)

Gina: (Smiles, shaking her head.) I don't know. (Sighs.) I've never been asked to a dance before, so... I'd kind of like to know what it's like.

Emma: Yeah, me too.

Gina: Yeah. (Emma laughs.) It's so weird, the anxiety and all the anticipation.

Emma: Mm-hmm.

Gina: Is it normal?

Emma: I don't know.

Gina: (Laughs.) Because of it is... Phew! High school must've been a complete nightmare.

Emma: (Laughs.) Yeah, I know.

(Cut to Daniel sitting on the couch with Emma and Gina sitting nearby.)

Daniel: Look, Emma, Gina. I don't want any trouble. I... I don't know why, but finding a date to this thing should not be harder than fighting a secret cult bent on world domination, but... It is. I suck at this. (Emma zooms out as Gina sits on the arm rest next to Daniel.) Clearly. So... (Looks at Gina.) I'm sorry, but--

Gina: Daniel?

Daniel: Yeah?

Gina: Will you go to prom with us?

Daniel: "Us"?

Gina: Mm-hmm.

(Emma gets up and walks over as Gina hops onto the couch.)

Emma: Yup. Having, not one, but two-- (Daniel laughs as Emma sits on the other side of him.) --awesome, hot dates is probably the best way to make Sarah jealous. (Daniel laughs and Emma nods at the camera.)

Gina: Yup.

Emma: Yeah?

Gina: Mm-hmm.

Daniel: (Laughs.) Okay, well...

Emma: Yeah?

Daniel: Yeah! (Gina and Emma laugh.)

Emma: (Lowers the camera.) Awesome.

(Cut to Emma lying on her bed.)

Emma: Okay, so there you have it. Sarah is taking Carl, Jonas is taking Jennie, and Gina and yours truly will be escorting Daniel. (Moves the camera closer.) I have this feeling that we are going to have the most memorable night of our lives. (Grins excitedly.)
