The Order is the secret society behind Bree's religion. Although in her early blogs Bree mentioned that she has been religious her whole life,<ref>Bree's video My Difficult Decision</ref> Gemma later says that she found out that it's not a religion at all, but a secret society known as The Order.<ref>Gemma's video Learning Egyptian</ref>

Before this, in the video Learning_To_Drive, we are told that the people doing the ceremony are NOT the Order of Denderah and so don't know why they are doing what they're doing in the ceremony, presumably only the Order knows that. In Order of Denderah, Daniel tells us that Bree said "Order of Denderah" in Learning_To_Drive. It had been hard to make out what she says. Then he tells us a little about the order. Based upon the fact that most orders call themselves "THE order" instead of referring to the entire name of the specific order they belong to each time they say it, we can reasonably conclude that when Gemma mentions "the order" she is, in fact, further referring to The Order of Denderah.

Religious undertones

Although the Creators do not want The Order to be associated with any one religion, many religious references can be found throughout the series. These references include

  • The picture of Aleister Crowley on Bree's bedroom wall.<ref>The picture of Aleister Crowley can be seen clearly in Bree's video A Change In My Life</ref>
  • Bree's studies of Enochian in preparation for the ceremony.<ref name="Equinox">Bree's video The Equinox</ref>
  • Bree's mention of her mother's strong belief in Free Will.<ref>Bree's video How My Parents Met</ref>
  • Preparation for the ceremony also includes studies on The Zodiac of Denderah.<ref>Bree's video Zodiac of Denderah</ref>
  • Bree attends a ceremony on the Fall Equinox in which her dad does the bibliomancy.<ref name="Equinox"/>

Furthermore, on more than one occasion, Bree expresses reservation about sharing her beliefs with others. Her religion is rare and sometimes adds to her alienation from her peers.

  • Bree has told viewers that she does not talk about her religion because she expects some people would be very disrespectful of it.<ref>Bree's video A Change In My Life</ref>
  • Bree mentions that she was once friends with a girl named Cassie, who stopped coming over because the "religion thing kinda freaked her out".<ref>Bree's video My Helper</ref>

Two possible explanations for the religious references are

  • The Order is not a secular organization at all, rather it draws and accepts a variety of religious belief systems. Such an organization could be similar to Freemasonry, and likely would borrow other characteristics with it.
  • The Order, while an entirely secular organization, could be using the guise of a religion (or several religions) to mask their real operations and true intentions. Bree would be too young for the truth to have been revealed to her yet.

Structure of The Order

Very little about The Order has been explained. Apparently, the figures of authority are called The Deacons. Members tend live in communities, which are widespread across the globe. There are at least three communities: one in England, one in South Africa, and another in New Zealand. Bree's family currently lives in Southern California, but thus far Bree has not mentioned anything about them having a community there. Bree did attend summer camp nearby where she was able to interact with other peers from her religion (or secret society).

OpAphid

Bree and Gemma have both mentioned the acronym OPAPHID. Gemma said that is was a guide to their interactions with outsiders.<ref>Gemma's video An Awkward Silence</ref> However, OpAphid is actually a covert organization working for or with The Order. OpAphid might be synonymous to The Order, or it might be a smaller organization within it.
