Pigeons are referenced multiple times in the KateModern series. Pigeons are often thought of as nuisances, and may represent annoyances to the characters. However, Kate seems to have a fondness for pigeons. This may represent how annoying, yet still loveable, her friends find her at times. A new theory, emerging following Kate's death, theorizes that pigeons represent when the characters are realizing their place in the world.
