LG15: The Misfits was the orignal winner of the LG15: The Show Is Yours contest. The show stars characters from lonelygirl15 that weren't featured in LG15: The Resistance, primarily Taylor Genatiempo (Becki Kregoski) and Spencer Gilman (Maxwell Glick). They are joined by the popular UGC character Thomas "Linc" Russell (Logan Rapp) who appeared in Redearth88 and The Home Office prior to the series.
The show was going to be executively produced by Jenni Powell and Logan Rapp, who are both former employees of EQAL. Because of this, and the involvement of Kregoski and Glick, the show's pilot caused controversy, as many fans saw this as a way to cheat fans out of winning the competition and producing a show in better quality than is possible for most entries. Both Jenni Powell and Amanda Goodfried have released statements reassuring fans that the pilot was produced independently of EQAL and followed all the guidelines for submission.
The Pilot was released on January 12, 2009 and the show was originally set to launch in February. However, there was a misunderstanding with Eqal about financial compensation when the producers of the Misfits believed that they would receive financial compensation from Eqal but Eqal stated that it never planned to give money to the winning show. The producers of The Misfits decided to withdrew from LG15: The Show Is Yours as a result, essentially canceling the show. The runner up -- LG15: The Last -- will be featured instead.
