Transcript
Charlie: Hey. I am absolutely shattered. I've come in to work early this morning to work on this amazing promo we're doing at the moment for Cadbury Creme Eggs. So I better get cracking! Get it? Look, alright, give me a break, it's really early right now. Anyway, we're organizing this awesome event on Saturday, so I better get going at it, but make sure you stay tuned to see what's going on Saturday.
In other news, I haven't heard from Patricia. It's probably a blessing in disguise, to be honest; I've got so much work to do here at the moment. (Sighs.) And this is my first big job, and I just want to nail it, so... I've got my head down. (Flips through a stack of notepaper next to her.) I've got all these people to email about the event. The perks of promotion, eh? Shouldn't I have a little helper or something helping me out with all this stuff? (Sighs.)
Well, "hey, ho, here we go." (Grabs a notepaper.) One down, a million to go.
(Charlie begins typing on the computer, and the scene speeds up, showing her going through the stack of papers while typing, calling, and moving around her office. Slowly, it gets darker and Charlie slams the enter key and leans back in her chair.)
Oh my God! This is possibly the most boring thing I've ever done in my whole, entire life. And I used to go out with Gavin. (Shakes her head.) Thank God that's over. I'm gonna go home immediately. If I never have to see this computer again, it'll be too soon.
(A loud noise jars Charlie. She grabs the camera and leaves her office to investigate.)
Hello? (Wanders down the area where her co-workers work.) Hello?
(Patricia appears in the doorway.) Patricia! Jesus, you scared the crap out of me!
Patricia: Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I've got to move a little bit more incognito these days. Can't have the Order know me every move, right?
Charlie: (Sighs.) Look, I'm r-really knackered and I've got to get home and-and get a good night's sleep, 'cause I've got a big day of work tomorrow. I really appreciate you coming down, but can you please make this quick?
Patricia: I- Look, I understand; I've got to be quick myself. Can't stay in one place for too long; it's too risky. I just came to finish telling you about what I started on Friday. (Hands the book "Finding the One" to Charlie.)
Charlie: I know this book. It's by Rupert Van Helden, the guy that Steve loves.
Patricia: That's right. Unfortunately I have some information that Steve might not like. The FTO have a mole in the Hymn of One. We've been getting reports tying this guy back to the experiments I was talking about on Friday.
Charlie: The blood drinking ones?
Patricia: Yes.
Charlie: Do you think he killed Kate?
Patricia: Yes.
Charlie: But doesn't he live in the States?
Patricia: Yeah, but... He was in London at the time of Kate's murder. Look, Charlie, I know it's an awful thing to think about, but the pictures I've seen concerning the experiment have the Hymn of One's logo manifested in blood all over the scene - just like Kate.
Charlie: W-well what are we meant to do?
Patricia: Nothing. For now. He's coming back for a book signing in a couple of weeks. I suggest you talk to him then while you're out in the open.
Charlie: So that I can get my blood sucked, too?
Patricia: I hardly think you're his type. Besides, I can't do it; it's too risky. The Order knows too far too much about me. Think about it Charlie? I'll be seeing you. (Walks out.)
(Charlie turns the camera back toward herself.)
Charlie: Things are getting crazier and crazier by the day. I mean, again I'm left not knowing what to think, or who to believe, or anything. I mean, what am I supposed to do? (Sighs.) I guess I could start by reading this and finding out what he's got to say. I mean, officially got to say.
I guess it's another sleepless night for me, then. (Sighs.) Brilliant.
