Backmasking has been a source of much controversy, especially related to supposed subliminal messages in rock music. There have been many instances of backmasking in the Alternate Reality Games surrounding lonelygirl15. This undoubtedly stems from the ARG element found throughout the various videos, both canon and fanfiction.
