Transcript

(Charlie is outside in front of a building. She pans the camera looking around the street, and then toward her face.)

Charlie: Hey, everyone. I've been getting these mystery texts from someone who claims they urgently need my help. (Sighs.) And I've come here to this... (Looks at the doorway.) Seedy hotel to meet... I don't know, probably some gangster named Terrence or someone from the Order, the most dangerous and devious organization in the world. I'm here all by myself. Why do these things always happen on Fridays?

(Charlie sighs. Cut to her wandering inside of the hotel. She climbs slowly up a flight of stairs.)

Steve: (Whispering.) Charlie.

Charlie: (Whips the camera around to find Steve standing behind her.) Shit, Steve! What the hell? It's you? What the hell are you playing at? You scared the shit out of me!

Steve: Charlie, I'm sorry! I-I'm sorry I couldn't tell you it was me who was sending those texts. Because th-then they would have found out what was going on.

Charlie: "They"? What do you mean, "them"? You're back with the Hymn of One?

Steve: Yeah, I know. But that was only so I could investigate - properly investigate - what's going on here. And I'll admit, now, that there are connections between the Hymn of One and the Order. (Interrupts Charlie.) And I've been working really hard to get to the bottom and to follow it all up.

Charlie: And?

Steve: (Whispering.) Everything points to Michelle Clore. She is the connection between the Hymn of One and the Order!

Charlie: But how do you know that, Steve?

Steve: I've got evidence to prove it. Come, follow me. (Walks toward the stairs.)

Charlie: I'm not going upstairs with you, you big dirty perv. I'm not going!

Steve: No, Charlie, you- You've got to come up. You need to be part of this. It's okay. (Charlie sighs.) Come on. (Reaches out his hand to help her up the stairs.)

Charlie: Okay, but no funny business.

(Charlie follows Steve up the stairs. He leads her to a hallway of rooms, and stops at the furthest one to unlock it.)

Charlie: If there's anything bad in here, Steve, I swear to God I'll blow your eardrum out.

Steve: It's alright, Charlie. Honestly. (Opens the door.)

(Charlie follows Steve into the room, and finds Kate sitting on one of the two beds inside.)

Charlie: Oh my God, Kate!

Kate: (Turns around and gets up.) Oh my God, Charlie! Thank God! Hey, maybe you can help convince Steve he's lost his mind.

(The camera whips back to Steve, who is locking the door behind them.)

Charlie: Steve, what the hell have you done?

Steve: She's here for her own good.

Charlie: Wh... Steve!

Steve: I only got her away from Michelle Clore, and I need you to help make her see sense. I've got all the evidence here. (Picks up a laptop.)

Charlie: Oh my God, Kate... Kate! (Puts the camera down and hugs Kate.) Oh, are you okay?

(Cut to Steve holding the camera and messing with the laptop. The camera pans up to show Charlie and Kate.)

Steve: Okay, Kate, I need you to look at this very carefully and then we can all go home. And when you've seen this, you'll realize that... Michelle Clore is not your friend; she's only trying to harm you.

Kate: (Shakes her head.) Just-... Michelle has been very, very good to me. She's- She's helped me understand my purpose.

Steve: You're deluded, Kate! The lie she told you about you being an Elder, you had a memory erasal. Just a way of fooling you into thinking you were safe with her.

Kate: You're wrong, Steve! You're... so wrong about Michelle; she's a genius! I mean, she- She's been good to me. She's let me stay at her house, she's encouraged me with my work, and she's helped me to feel okay about myself for the first time in my life. I mean, if you think she's some evil witch that's gonna cast a spell over me, you're wrong.

Steve: Oh, for goodness sake, Kate! (Puts the laptop on the the night table in between the bed.) Look... (Presses the mouse button on the laptop.) and listen.

(Kate and Charlie watch as a video plays on the laptop.)

Michelle Clore: When I ask for something to be done, I expect it to be done immediately, is that clear?

(Cut to the video. Michelle Clore is talking on her cellphone in a doorway. The filmer can only steal glances at her to escape being noticed.)

Michelle Clore: Yeah, no. I don't want to hear your excuses; I want the latest batch of Kate's blood test results today. (Pauses.) Because the injection you gave her wasn't enough to turn her totally trait negative. (Pauses.) Well, if her trait positive levels aren't rising, then she's no good to me, is she?

(Cut to Kate and Charlie watching in shock. Cut back to the video.)

Michelle Clore: We need to find another girl, and fast. (Pauses.) Well... What about the list of those girls supposedly made trait positive by that maniac Griffin? (Pauses.) Well is it a hoax? I don't know! Find it, find them. Find the girls! (Pauses.) What about Kate? (Pauses.) Yeah, look. If her trait positive levels are rising then keep her around.

(Cut to Kate and Charlie. Kate shakes her head in disbelief. Cut back to the video.)

Michelle Clore: Yeah, come on. I think both you and I know that Kate is naïve enough to do whatever I suggest. (Pauses.) If the tests come back negative, I have a connection with a psychiatric hospital, where I'm sure no one would be surprised to see Kate locked up. (Pauses.) Yeah, it's in the cellar.

(Cut back to Kate and Charlie.)

Kate: Where did you get this?

Steve: I did try and warn you, Kate.

Kate: (Shaking her head.) No...

Charlie: Kate, it's okay.

Kate: No!

Charlie: It's okay now. You're gonna come home with me. You're gonna come home and spend Christmas with your friends - with your real friends.

(Kate slams the laptop shut and hugs Charlie.)

Charlie: It's alright to be upset. It's okay. It's gonna be okay now. You're back, it's okay. We're gonna keep you safe.

Notes

  • Charlie's question "why do these things always happen on Fridays?" may be a latent joke by The Creators. Since posting is limited during the weekends, the most suspenseful blogs are put at the end of the week, leaving the weekend to serve as a cliff hanger.
  • This episode reveals that Steve was the mystery texter.
  • It is unclear who MC was calling on the cell phone, and not clear what object in the cellar she was talking about.
