I identified the Mark and Steve characters but may have gotten it backwards. We can fix it when and if we find who was actually who. - Theresa 12:06, 26 September 2007 (CDT)

inappropriate notes

  • reviewing the history, i see that the note in question was written in two parts between Jbshryne and an unregistered user. if it were not for the second half of the note, i might have left it alone. but the second half of the note suggested that steve was black, a flagrant inaccuracy. initially, i changed 'of color' to 'ethnic minority' but correct me if i'm wrong but i believe Yousef is either half or completely of middle eastern descent? i finally decided to remove the comment on grounds that pointing out the "darkies" is a bit politically incorrect, even for me. if anybody feels i acted too hastily on the admin's behalf, feel free to restore the comment. - platy sep 26
    • I agree that this whole theme should be left out completely - Theresa 14:12, 26 September 2007 (CDT)
      • I guess its too ripe for abuse, but it took the show 8 zillion years to have a character that wasn't 100% white looking in their appearance. There have been threads over the past year in the forums bemoaning the fact that the entire cast has been white. "Steve"'s (if Steve is Asian) appearance as the first non-white character is noteworthy in my mind, but not if its just going to elicit racist comments. --Milowent 14:27, 26 September 2007 (CDT)
  • I agree with everyone here. Yes, Yousef is half-Arabic, yes Steve is the first "non-white looking" character, but no, the note is not worth it if it's just going to spark racist comments. Rascism ftl. --Zoey 18:14, 26 September 2007 (CDT)
  • yep. steve isn't even the first racial minority. to boot, it is unfortunate that the first Asian guy is in an episode about ninjas. - platy sep 26
