Kate and Charlie's flat is expected to be a major backdrop in the KateModern series. Kate's first actual videoblog takes place in her flat, which is located in East London, England. Charlie is not only Kate's flatmate, but also her best friend, who presumably introduced Kate to her current boyfriend, Tariq.
