Transcript

(Lauren adjusts the camera on the dashboard of Charlie's car as Charlie drives.)

Charlie: What a crock.

Lauren: Jules, I know I've done something really stupid and I know we've got a bit on our plate at the moment--

Charlie: We don't think you wanna go away! It doesn't make any sense!

Lauren: We definitely saw that shadow.

Charlie: Yeah, Michelle Clore's butler.

(Cut to a clip from Orivwa in black and white. The video zoom in on the Shadow, who can be seen in the mirror.)

Lauren: We just went 'round to yours, but there was no answer, so Charlie reckoned you're out at your Dad's but if you're not, can you just let us know?

Charlie: It's just up here.

(Charlie sighs and parks the car. Lauren grabs the camera and gets out of the car. Cut to Lauren as they walk to the house.)

Lauren: So we've come to sort things out; see what's happening for ourselves. None of this bull-- (Turns, noticing Charlie is still at the car.) You coming or what?

(Charlie heads toward Lauren, lowering her phone from her ear..)

Charlie: Yeah! No answer.

(Charlie runs to catch up and pulls her collar up. They continue walking down the street. Cut to Charlie ringing the doorbell several times.)

Lauren: What now?

Charlie: Let's go around the back.

(Charlie looks around nervously, heading to the side of the house. Cut to Lauren climbing over a low brick wall. She stumbles getting down from a trash bin.)

Lauren: Bloody Jules. Gonna have to get a new skirt now.

Charlie: Shh! (Whispering.) Take this.

(Lauren sighs and takes the camera as Charlie climbs over the wall. Cut to Charlie walking to the house through a garden. Charlie slows, nearing a back window.)

Julia: Yeah, I've heard it read to me.

(Cut to Michelle Clore's Shadow talking to Julia as seen through the window. Julia is sitting as the Shadow walks over, holding a copy of Finding the One.)

Shadow: Gotta read it for yourself. You need to read it for yourself. (Sits next to Julia.) Everything's in this book. Where there's dark, there's light. When you need direction, it gives you the path. This book saved my life. (Sighs.) I'd probably still be in jail now. Or dead. You need to read this.

Julia: Yeah, I get it.

(A door slamming is heard.)

Rupert: Where are you?

(Julia and the Shadow stand as Rupert enters the room, glaring.)

Rupert: You know, I am out there trying to maintain some kind of normality? (Removes his tie.) I am out there trying to maintain some kind of momentum for my work! (Turns around, grabbing a bottle of alcohol and pours himself a glass.) What do you two do? Hmm? Oh, yeah! You're sitting around here on your fat asses! That's right. (Takes a drink.)

Julia: Honey...

Rupert: Yeah, after all the damage you've caused. Great. (Grimaces at the alcohol and puts it down. He turns to the Shadow.) And you? (Laughs.) You do not go on camera! Oh, what? (Taunts the Shadow.) What? They don't train that anymore? Oh, you want me to get the manual? I can spoon feed it to you. How bout that? You like that?

Julia: Honey, I don't think it's gonna be a problem.

Rupert: God knows how many people saw that, okay?

Julia: Well, I couldn't take it back down. I'd look odd.

Rupert: Oh, right, cause it's not like I don't already have a bunch of intruders poking their noses into every single aspect of my business every day! You know what? We got too much going on right now. It's too risky. We're changing our travel plans. Oy! (Snaps at the shadow.)

Julia: Well, can we just- Can we just wait til my dad gets back?

Rupert: No! We go tonight.

Julia: You said we could go in a couple nights--

Rupert: I don't care what I said! There's no choice now!

Julia: You don't see the problem?

Rupert: We don't have a choice, okay?

Julia: Well, I need to see my dad.

Rupert: Need? (Walks to Julia, glaring.) Need? (Grabs Julia, shaking her.) You need nothing!

(Rupert's mobile rings. He tosses Julia onto the bed. Julia appears beaten as Rupert answers his phone, glaring at her.)

Rupert: Rupert Van Helden? John, how you doing? Thanks for getting back to me. Yeah, look, we got a couple of options. I mean, if you want to go for the two hours consultation session then, uh, we got a few things we can do. (Pulls a cigarette out of his jacket.) Mhm. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, we can either do a, uh, Q&A session or a pre-scheduled event. It's fine. (The shadow lights the cigarette.) Okay. Well, look, get Sydney to give me a fax and I'll get my people to do it, and... Yeah if you wanna go for the full session on Sunday--

(The camera pans to Charlie looking frightened.)

Charlie: Let's get outta here. Come on.

(Charlie and Lauren run to the front of the house. Cut to Lauren climbing onto the trash bins and over the small brick wall.)

Lauren: Let's go.

(Lauren leads the way to the front of the house. Cut to Lauren approaching the sidewalk in front of the house. She stops and hides behind the wall.)

Lauren: Oh shit!

(Charlie peeks around the corner, finding the Shadow standing outside of the house.)

Charlie: Oh, no...

(Charlie zooms in as the Shadow looks over to the Aygo.)

Lauren: He's seen the car!

Charlie: That's good. Okay, just wait.

(The Shadow looks inquisitively at Charlie's car.)

Charlie: Wait. (The Shadow turns, and Charlie ducks behind the wall.) Okay, just wait. (Peeks back from behind the wall and catches the Shadow heading back inside.) Wait... Wait... Now!

(Cut to Charlie and Lauren running to the car.)

Charlie: Quick!

Lauren: Freak central!

Charlie: We can't just leave her in there!

Lauren: Are you kidding? That's Michelle Clore's shadow! If we go anywhere near him he's going to kill us!

(Lauren opens the car door as Charlie runs to the driver's side. She climbs into the car and hands the camera to Lauren.)

Charlie: Here.

Lauren: Sure. We've got to get this to someone!

Charlie: Well, who are we gonna take it to?

Lauren: The police!
